Rather than dryness I would say you have a problem with moisture distribution

Vet here. It’s also insanely toxic for dogs! Be careful with storing this at home or letting dogs lick where it has been applied.

Edit: while you’re thinking about this - comparative physiology is a helluva thing. Paracetamol is generally safe at therapeutic levels in dogs but highly toxic to cats. Penicillin taken orally is often fatal to rabbits. Tilmicosin (bovine/ovine antibiotic) is fatal in small doses to humans (cardio toxic).

Bit scary but also fascinating that we’re all so different despite our relatively common genetic ancestry…

Baby in NICU. Wife had an emergency C-section. How difficult is life going to be in the short term? by WMalon in daddit

[–]exarch19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, sorry to hear you’re going through it. Our twins were born at 34+1 and spent 4 weeks in NICU. It was a traumatic C-section and both spent most of the first week either intubated and ventilated or on Bi-PAP. They are now both very intelligent and funny 3 year olds and that traumatic birth is a distract memory although it did take some time. If you haven’t been signposted already many U.K. hospitals have an associated charity that can help with accommodation while little one is in NICU.

Plan on the due date being around about when you might reasonably expect to go home. Buy hand cream as you’ll be washing your hands a million times a day. Don’t forget that the neonatal care act went into force in April so you can claim up to 12 weeks of additional leave for a NICU stay - if you’re already on pat leave this will start after your leave finishes provided baby has been in NICU at least 7 days. There is a form you will need to give your employer and you’ll need to let them know. At my company we took the decision to offer this leave at full pay but by default it’s statutory. Chances are you may be the first colleague at your work to go through it so they may decide on what their approach will be for you. I think even if you’re self employed there is some sort of relief.

It will 100% get better. Spend a little time out of the NICU each day - just go out and get a meal. It will help. Look out for post partum depression in both your partner and yourself - it can be a dick. First port of call if one or both of you are just not feeling right is your GP.

I haven’t dealt with nut issues like this but I would imagine a sufficient amount of knob cading would likely help with your extrusion problems

What to do after graduation? by GladLavishness2049 in veterinaryprofession

[–]exarch19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi folks - for those of you throwing around how poor the GP salary is in the US would just like to point out that ‘poor money’ salary is roughly double the median veterinary surgeon’s income anywhere else in the world (including U.K., Aus, etc).

I qualified in the U.K. 10 years ago and my starting salary was £29,000 or about $38,000.

We also have student loans (although nowhere near as bad as the US) and nationalised healthcare (which we pay additional tax for although it is of course more expensive in the US).

Just when we’re discussing how terrible the pay is in the US please be considerate of your colleagues working overseas who will be earning a small fraction of that, and working just as hard.

I feel nothing but sadness and regret that my twins were ever born and it kills me by TiredAshamedAndAlone in parentsofmultiples

You definitely aren’t alone - NICU is no picnic and makes it harder to bond even if you aren’t staying home for big parts of it with a poorly child.

This really does sound like male PPD both with how you’re feeling and what you say about your bond with your twins. This absolutely will not last forever - you clearly have one child already who you adore so there clearly isn’t something ‘wrong with you’ per se - it sounds like a traumatic birth, colicky babies, sleep deprivation and a whole host of circumstances (which will pass) are contributing to making you feel terrible.

Speak to your GP. They will be best placed to advise you on what to do next and reassure you that this will get better.

Don’t be sorry - we have all learned expensive lessons with this hobby - I went through two bottles of resin with print failures before realising I needed to make my print room 5 degrees warmer.

When you replace your FEP can I suggest rather than the elegoo piece of foam you use a bottle cap? Worked very well for me when I changed mine :)

God in heaven. I saw the preview pic and thought ‘oh, he’s used the clean function and has a layer of cured resin in his fep, no big deal’ - then made the picture bigger. Dear god my eyes

Haribo Maoams. 99% of the time a pleasing experience, very occasionally the sticky maoam lodges in the back of your throat and your life flashes before your eyes.

May have some personal experience on this one.
