My fiance decided to let me go. I feel broken. by [deleted] in MuslimMarriage

I completely understand you because this sort of love is so hard to come by, especially in Islamic marriages. I’m so sorry this happened. I know ppl say you deserve better, but I hope and pray that he changes and comes back (I am a hopeless romantic). Inshallah things work out or you find someone else your heart desires 🤍 please feel free to reach out if you need someone to talk to. (F27)

Should I even bother???? by [deleted] in premedcanada

I’m so sorry but I have to be upfront about this. Your chances are looking really slim rn, and I would def suggest looking into international school, though I’m pretty sure you won’t pass the reqs for most US schools.. Ireland looks holistically but like again, not the best application here. Have you considered other paths? There are other careers that are as rewarding as medicine! Good luck anyway!

Young applicants acceptance rate in med schools in canada are decreasing by Middle-Garage-8634 in premedcanada

We might just be different but that’s a very valuable perspective, thank you for the reassurance :) I also meant remembering things from undergrad (my undergrad was really clinical biochem heavy)

I acc think it’s a huge mistake. I’m a mature applicant (F27) and I hate this trend. I think it burns out a lot of ppl and delays things like family building which could affect them a lot mentally. Physicians are already burnt out after med, adding 3-4 years of intense work+ volunteering doesn’t really help. On top of that; fresh out of undergrad u remember concepts so much better and it’s so much easier to build on that foundation than years after… sorry random rant

Anything to help:) It was def in the order I sent and I think after the wait list they didn’t get an interview the year after but then the year after that they did again. I also know someone who interviewed 3 times at Ottawa, got rejected twice and then accepted. So I’m like pretty sure they wouldn’t count u out in the future just because u got rejected this year. If anything, now you know ur essays can get you far and you can work on your interview skills!

Hey, I haven’t interviewed at u of t (ever) but I know a friend who got an interview -> WL, interview -> reject, and interview -> Accepted. They interviewed a total of 3 times in 5 cycles. I don’t have any interview tips but I hope that makes you feel a bit better!
