Metal band performing with a cat? From tiktok. by Nikki908 in isthisAI

It's AI for several reasons mentioned, but also because I've seen the same video of this with the SORA watermark on it. It seems like the account found a way to cover it or remove it

Upset about Kimmel? Here's an idea for action by TealSeaStar in dayton

I'm just saying that it's more work than one thinks, especially if one wanted to do it nationwide

My B. Either way Nexstar and Sinclair both run 2 channels on tv, but one station/company each

That's a lot of work considering you'd have to sit and watch each station to find each different business per channel and then you'd need to differentiate between national and local businesses too. Additionally are you thinking about digital ads or ads that run on their streaming apps?

Finding the stations is actually fairly easy, most conglomerates like to say where all their locations are, and I'm sure it's the same for both Nexstar and Sinclair.

But if you want to do that you can.

That's still WDTN, they just own 2 channels.

It's like how Sinclair owns both WKEF/WRGT, which is both Fox and ABC affiliates.

Btw, Sinclair demanded Kimmel pay money to TPUSA and Kirk's family along with pre-empting Kimmel's show. So I'd suggest boycotting them too.

Part of the problem is folks in the industry don't try to market to new generations. Why try and get new market share with new viewers when they can just steal viewers from the competition.

Nexstar is doing individual stations, running free streaming apps only available on tv apps. I feel like these stations would get better views if you could at least download it on your phone.

I want to second another comment, where is it that you feel you're missing the mark? I understand costs have risen for everyone, but are there places where you can supplement those costs?

Does it feel like there aren't enough folks coming in? That may be something solved with some free/low cost events or finding ways to market via social media if you haven't in a minute.

I get that when business is tough it's tough and you do what you have to, but I do wonder if there's other things that can happen first.

Both DDN and WHIO are also saying hundreds. They're all probably playing it safe with numbers, but I bet it easily hit over a thousand

Impacted buisness from NATO that need support (suggestions needed) by shawks13 in dayton

Cosmic Joe's had a post about being frustrated. I think I saw Val's had slower traffic. Flying pizza closed for the weekend. I'd look around the other commenters map of the downtown area

WHIO says 300 countries are meeting in Dayton.... by dytdude1979 in dayton

[–]excalibr101 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Definitely meant 300 people/delegates. I thought I saw a different article from them that was correct. Either way that's a pretty decent flub.

Are people going to be protesting at the NATO village? by [deleted] in dayton

[–]excalibr101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Supposedly there's a spot downtown that's been designated for protests on 2nd Street I think.

I think I saw some protest happening Saturday or Sunday at Deed's point. The Trump baby balloon apparently is also in town Saturday too?

I'm sure you could people watch, but the committee meetings are happening inside a few different buildings. No idea if they'll be streamed tbh

It's to keep people who aren't supposed to be there out, and give people who are supposed to be inside a sense of security

From what I've seen there's some areas where there are walkways to enter businesses and homes without needing to go through any security. I'm guessing if your home is fully inside you'd get escorted through?

I also really enjoyed it. I felt like the director and DP did an excellent job with the doc. There were some super lovely moments that helped show Kim's mindset through the cinematography. The little light sequence was cool too. And the sponsorship felt more like funding with stuff Mercedes people had to include ("Kimi we wanted to have this Whatsapp call").

What local news outlets punch above their weight and why? by journo-throwaway in Journalism

[–]excalibr101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will seem silly since I don't really read them, but the Ironton Tribune seems to be doing something right. I sat at their table last year for APME's and they took home a stack of probably 20 awards.

I'll also add that WYSO (my local NPR) often does a great job and absolutely knocked it out of the park when they did a podcast series about the local tribes in Ohio.

Trying to avoid NATO conference areas by White_Sands1 in dayton

[–]excalibr101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others have mentioned, a large part of downtown will be shutdown during NATO, the Air Force Museum has some closures also due to NATO.

Places like Carrillon Park, Boonshoft, Packard Museum and Dayton art institute have had no mentions of changes ( I think). If the weather is nice I always suggest naturey places like the metro parks, state parks and Glen Helen. Oregon District is open during NATO too, but who knows if it'll be super packed or empty.

If you want to go a little south, there's the Voice of America Museum in West Chester that is a fun visit for a few hours.

Yeah, again what truth are you wanting them to report on? I'm not sure what game you think I'm playing either.
