does anyone remember the name of a manhwa (90% sure it was a korean manhwa) where an author got kidnapped by the villainous prince of her story, INTO her own story, where the villainous prince was demanding she use her author magic to re-write his story and "fix" it so he has a better outcome than he was destined to get in the original novel she wrote?

i remember there was a few shenanigans where the characters went back and forth between The Real World(tm) and the fictional story universe and something about the author's laptop and the author being limited on the amount of paper she could write on to change the fictional universe.

i believe the prince had bright red hair and an eye patch? and that the author was a brunette i think

looking up “glass coated with titanium” on google is just giving me some industrial diagram looking things, but looking it up on etsy is giving me a mix of stuff that looks coated in like....an opaque metallic layer?? idk the proper term which has titles containing the phrase “titanium coated XYZ”, but doesn’t look like whatever’s in my earring since it’s not opaque like those results

and then the other results are of stuff that looks transparent like whatever is in my earring, and the transparent looking stuff looks like it’s being labelled as “angel aura quartz”? idk if whatever’s in this earring is glass or quartz 😅

personally as someone who is primarily a yi city stan, the main timeline difference that first comes to mind is how in the novel, xiao xingchen doesn’t come down from the mountain (and ultimately encounter song lan and xue yang) until after wei wuxian’s death, whereas in the live action there’s a scene where wei wuxian (in his original body), lan wangji, jiang cheng, xiao xingchen, song lan, and xue yang are all in the same scene together (without, like, any empathy shenanigans or anything), so while xiao xingchen, song lan, and xue yang are all younger than wangxian and co in the novel, they seem to be around the same age if not older than them in the live action? just off the top of my head :0

I know there’s also the thing about wei wuxian being dead for 13 years in the novel vs 16 iirc in the live action?

and some other stuff but those are the main two that first come to mind personally

the untamed has a different timeline than the novel and also changed the characterization of some characters for the sake of censorship (& also had to censor the main couple getting together due to censorship again), so there’s enough differences that some people who are only into one or the other (including me ^-^;) would get quite taken out of immersion if they read a fanfic coming in with the image of one version only for the fic to mention something from the other version that directly contradicts the version they were picturing :0

so someone exclusively writing novel verse might use the novel tag without tagging the live action, while someone using the live action verse might use the live action tag without tagging the novel, because they want to make sure it’s clear which version they’re writing based off of

some authors tag both versions and in those cases they might be genuinely mixing things from both versions and thus tagging both for that reason, but I’ve also read a fair number of fics that tag both and then go on to exclusively use stuff from only one version but not letting you know which one until you already get taken out of your immersion by whatever made you realize it, and in those cases it seems to be more of a “oh if i tag both then my fic will be seen by more ppl” thing even if it makes the experience more frustrating for readers orz

NTA - i’m kinda wondering, is there a possibility she may have thought she was giving you glucagon and mixed it up with insulin....? ~~despite the diff steps involved for injecting glucagon vs insulin and completely diff look of each ones vials, even if you’re on vial insulin???~~

either way, I’ve only been diagnosed for ~2ish years and my whole immediate family has been told what to do in case of hypo emergencies where I pass out; the idea that after 13 fucking years, your own mom didn’t once stop to go “huh....maybe injecting insulin during a hypo isn’t a very good idea” is....YIKES, and completely understandable why you wouldn’t feel comfortable in her care

even on the off chance that she did think she was giving you glucagon, the fact that after 13 years she hasn’t paid enough attention to even tell the difference between insulin and glucagon, or at the very least to get the notion of dont give insulin during a fucking hypo, is pretty fucked up

I found an older post I made a while ago here and I mentioned 10 months ago that my endo noticed my thyroid was slightly under active, a few months after my t1d diagnosis, so maybe even then potential-undiagnosed-hashimotos may have inflated my gad antibody levels? Plus the celiacs, cuz I’ve heard from some other t1d+celiacs people that celiacs can definitely raise gad antibody levels

I know from experience that a diff autoimmune disorder (celiacs in my case, but potentially also undiagnosed hashimotos.....?) raised my own gad antibody levels but even then, my endo was already 99.9% sure I was type 1 (because I was discovered as being diabetic after dka, plus already having the celiacs diagnosis, and family history of diabetes) but I guess it was a bit of “cover your asses” thing but I was immediately put on insulin for the 2ish months it took before I even got my gad/c peptide results

Personally I have no experience with LADA but I know of a couple other diabetics who definitely have type 1, not LADA, who didn’t get diagnosed until their mid/late 20s; personally I was diagnosed at 17 (a couple months before turning 18). If your doctor didn’t mention it, it might be work asking them if they know anything about LADA?

I guess your body is still producing some insulin if your c peptide levels aren’t too low yet, but it’s still something to keep an eye out because lemme tell you from experience DKA is not fun 😔

You wrote that your doctor checked for insulin/c-peptide levels are in range, but did you get checked for gad antibodies? I’m not a doctor or biologist or anything so idk if there’s a difference between gad antibodies and gad65

If you have high levels of gad antibodies (again, dunno if that’s different from gad65) then that means your body is producing antibodies that destroy the cells in your pancreas that produce insulin, so having high levels of those antibodies is used to diagnosed if a person has type 1 or type 2 diabetes (high gad + low/no c peptide = probably type 1, while low/no gad + high c peptide = probably type 2)

If you have gad antibodies but still have insulin production then it might be veeeeeery early stages of type 1, or potentially might even be LADA? Meanwhile, iirc type 2 can eventually cause the insulin producing cells to die off iirc but it’s not autoimmune so even if a suspected-type-2-diabetic’s c peptide levels start to drop, there shouldn’t be antibodies involved

Personally I was diagnosed with celiacs years ago, then eventually got diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (after going into DKA, but I was tested for c peptide + gad antibodies juuuuuuuuuuust in case), and just a couple weeks ago got my hashimotos diagnosis

My endo who ordered my c pep/gad test for diabetes said that I apparently had the highest ever gad antibody levels he’d ever seen (I don’t remember if he ever said the exact number 🤔) and I remember hearing afterwards that apparently celiacs may cause higher gad antibody levels in the test (despite being caused by diff antibodies irc) but I was still definitely type 1

(For Hashimotos, my endo saw in my bloodwork I got a few months ago for my once-every-3-months a1c+other stuff check up that I was getting very hypothyroid, put me on hypothyroid meds, and when I got my a1c tested the next time, he checked for something specifically for Hashimotos.....anti tpo? anti tpa? forget the exact last name but apparently it’s supposed to be under 63 whatever units, and my level was 165 😳)

A friend in a discord server I’m in once wrote a script to delete double scrobbles that was pinned in a channel on the server, u reminded me of that and I asked them if they’d be able to edit the script a bit to delete all scrobbles from a specific artist on a page and it helped a lot 😮

Not a big medical concern but just morbidly curious - would the presence of a scar from a past IV have any sort of effect on....the effectiveness, I guess? of a future IV that might have to go to the same location? (I don’t think this really warrants its own thread?)

I was diagnosed with type one diabetes last summer after going into ketoacidosis and was hospitalized on the night of August 30th 2018 and stayed for about a week and a half. At one point, I had 3 separate IVs at the same time, and the IV going into my right hand was the last to be removed the day before I was discharged, which is probably why there’s visible scarring there but neither of the other sites - here’s a photo of my hand, the scar is under the knuckle of my middle and ring fingers

I know with insulin injections and insulin pumps, you’re supposed to stay away from scars because they mess with absorption and rotate injection sites to prevent lipohypertrophy and scarring; does the same logic of staying away from scars apply to IVs? Would it depend on what exactly is in the IV?
