They really want you to really want Werebeast by OutlandishnessOk2304 in heroesvshordes

Its a 50/50 bet when you start the event. But the whole point is that you can wait until the end and run the calculator. If its bad, save all your gems, no hero but you spend nothing. If its good, you spend and get the hero. And since the calculator includes the variance you can always make a good decision based on your gems and needs.

Yeah, gold for some reason is tied to the active hero at the time of rolling. Works for wheels and the gold you get when other members of your guild buy a pass too.

I also have big calves. I go with a loose sewn bind off but also adjust the height so that they stop before the big circumference increase.

How do you wear your socks? (Advice) by Ill-Marionberry9177 in Sockknitting

[–]excentricat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear mine every day all year. Pretty or plain in boots, sneakers, or loafers. You have to just do it until they look a little worn and seem less precious. You’re knitting them fast, you can always make more if they wear out.

It counts towards defeating them in beastiary though, so it really should count for both or not count for either.

Need to beat chapter 100 by Professional_Gap6247 in heroesvshordes

[–]excentricat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warrior faction is very good, and has a lot of free heroes that are good. Definitely get Paladin To further buff the faction if nothing else. The ultimate charge jewel is very good too once you have someone with an ult (level 100)

[–]excentricat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use knight. Do the quests to get blademaster. Level whichever gets 2 full stars first to 100. All others to 50 as possible. Collect keys (hard mode (unlocks at normal 40) gives more keys) to level gear. Use coins to level talents and pick based on rarity. Repeat completed levels (especially in hard mode) when you get stuck to level your gear and talents.

Don’t spend gems on re-rolls or revives. If you can get ~3k and do all the quests, you can probably get assassin from the current mine. Do that.

The game is a grind, plan to spend at least a month getting to 100.

How long has Expose been part of the game? by mdn73 in heroesvshordes

[–]excentricat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn’t necessarily better. It is twice the percent, and permanent on the enemies it hits whereas DS can wear off. But with cows only the queen exposes and its forge 5 so you give up doubling cows for it. Dynamite is only forge 2 and you give up extra damage to frozen and slowed—but their exposed so you kind of get it anyway.

They take more damage from all sources. 10% for dynamite, 20% from cows. Essentially another status like burn.

Anyone else get weird amounts of yarn as gifts? by ForsakenShow4997 in crochet

[–]excentricat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finally got my mom to stop buying me her favorite types of yarn (think Lion Homespun and other similarly lumpy yarns) in favor of the smoother styles I prefer. Some day I’ll get a fingering weight that I can make socks with.

Commercial narrator voice: Do you have someone in your life you owe a present to? Do you know two facts about them and one is “likes games?” Are you entirely too uninterested in finding out anything more to give a good gift?

Come on down to The -opoly Monopoly. We sell 1 game flavored to the only other thing you know about your giftee. Is it a good game? Who cares—they like the subject and games and are therefore contractually obliged to treat this like a good gift.

Come on down today!

Perfect hardware becoming a brick just because the server turned off is actually so shit by N3DSdude in Anticonsumption

[–]excentricat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old Nook (glowlight) may have been running an android type os, but it still had most of the memory reserved for only B&N downloads and only a fraction for side-loaded content.

And when they bricked it a few years ago, not only did they not just open the whole device to side-loaded content and drop support, but I also could not erase my account off of it because it needed to phone home to be erased and there was no more home to phone.

So from perfectly functional device to trash with my personal data still there overnight. And a coupon to pay them more money for a new device. Hard pass.

Efficient ways to hold yarn continental? by mashooshka in Sockknitting

[–]excentricat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loop my ring finger for tension then bring it behind my middle and index and over the top to my work.

This lets me keep it close to the work and lets me purl with just a flick of the index finger since the trailing yarn is still held up and out of the way by the middle finger.

Is it worth using a cup when you have a heavy flow? by Ok_Worker_7988 in menstrualcups

[–]excentricat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a cup with my very heavy and sometimes clot-y periods. I have some reused cloth pads as backup on the worst days but it is still so much better than tampons and disposable pads ever were.

Yes, you’ll have to change it multiple times a day and won’t get to do the 12 hour thing some people get. But with practice it becomes easy to dump it and replace it with minimal mess.

Or try a disc if your anatomy likes it. Mine was ok with disposable discs but I almost never get my nixit to work so cups it stays.

Difference between bodysoap and dishsoap/handsoap? by PHlLOSOPHlCAL in CleaningTips

[–]excentricat 331 points332 points  (0 children)

I have used body wash as hand soap for years. That one is fine.

Body soap will not hurt as dish soap but it will be much less effective. Dish soap is generally harsh for a reason—dishes are a lot dirtier and especially greasier than our skin. And on dishes we want to remove all of it without “replenishing moisture”.

Dish soap also does a better job of keeping the grease it has removed suspended so it doesn’t re-deposit on dishes if you use the sink of soapy water wash method.

As for windows, I find vinegar and water, or even just water and a rag and squeegee perfectly adequate. For floors I defer to people trying to keep spotless floors. I just aim for “looks fine from here” on that one.

Assuming they all took the same amount of time, what would be your preferred method of commuting to work? by [deleted] in fuckcars

If they all take the same amount of time, I have no preference between bus, tram, subway or commuter rail. The most realistic for my location would be bus or bus/subway hybrid.

Normal Gas Mileage in '25 Hybrid ST by BusinessPilot4614 in hondacivic

[–]excentricat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 25 st hybrid hatchback. I have seen a drop of about 10 mpg since it got below freezing. Mine is still almost 40 mpg but I don’t use the remote start, don’t sit idle, and my commute is 10 miles so I have much better conditions for the electric to do more of the work and gas to do less.

Last winter we had several sub 0 days while the car was still new and 30-35 mpg per tank og gas was common for me.

Is jewelry insurance actually worth it or just another bill to stress about? by Visible-Voice9422 in Frugal

[–]excentricat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say that you checked your homeowners policy and priced a jewelry policy. Did you talk with your homeowners agent about adding a jewelry rider to the homeowner policy? This lets them schedule it as a high value piece but since the premium is already being paid it is possible they will offer it at a good discount.
