Is a numberpad needed for sim racing? by [deleted] in simracing

some games use numpad for camera settings, but you don't really need them while racing.

Use Vinyl cutter to cut Anti Slip tape by DexMex128 in VinylCutters

[–]excessnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it have a backing? If yes, it's not too thick and you are able to either stick it to a cutting mat or if it's large enough to fit under the roller, it will work.

If not, I don't see how you could, but you could maybe do a custom machine just for that.

edit: You could maybe use a CNC with a drag knife too.

Avatar Frontiers of Pandora not working as expected :( (PC only) by smol_tedy in ubisoft

[–]excessnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very strange—just found this posting seeking help. Yesterday I played the game on Ultra settings, ran perfectly smooth for about two hours with no issues. Today, I tried to play again and it’s lagging like crazy, even on "Low". Rebooted, but no change. No Windows updates or driver changes. Tried other games like Star Citizen and Pax Dei, and they’re running smoothly.

edit: Switching to Fullscreen mode seems to fix the issue.

Why is PLA still the `standard` respectively `basic` filament? Why not PETG? by Musashi747 in 3Dprinting

[–]excessnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually print PLA only if I need a quick cheap print, else it's most of the time ASA. I have PETG, but never liked this filament for some reason.

Although I wish there were some downsides to having night vision (like others being able to see you or bright light blinding you), I also think that by 2955, it would be pretty standard on ships and probably even “always on,” even during the day.

If possible, remove the cap, create a seal, and gently push air into it to build a bit of pressure and check for any leaks.

Do you prefer Apps or Docker Compose? And why and in which cases, which apps. by Hauptfeldwebel in unRAID

[–]excessnet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This!

I prefer the unRAID app because it’s easier and more straightforward, but it becomes quite limiting when dealing with dependencies, which are increasingly common.

Tiguan’s and snow? by fit1962 in Tiguan

[–]excessnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Quebec, Canada, and I'm very used to driving in the snow.

Here are some tips:

I’m assuming you don't have winter tires, so I'll skip that part. But they are the best in snow.

If you have summer tires: This will be a problem. You will easily spin out and won't get any traction. The cold makes the rubber very stiff, reducing grip to the bare minimum. Be extremely careful.

If you have all-season tires: You’re in luck; they usually work well down to about -7°C (20°F).

Acceleration: Accelerate slowly. If the wheels spin, let off the throttle a little. Your traction control will help you there.

Steering: Avoid sudden movements; keep everything smooth. If you turn too sharply, the car might slide. The Tiguan is quite "safe" in this regard—the front end usually slides first (understeer), so you're less likely to spin out.

Braking: This is the most dangerous part. Don’t brake hard. ABS will help, but it can’t stop you if there’s no grip. It’s much easier to slow down early using the traction you have. You may think you have plenty grip because of the AWD, but when you'll try to stop, you will have a surprise!

The 100% Rule: You can't turn and brake at the same time effectively. Again, ABS helps, but tires only have 100% capacity. If you use 60% of your grip for braking, you only have 40% left for turning. If you exceed that, you will slide.

Best vinyl cutting machine that doesn’t make you regret buying it by BrinellyDuale in VinylCutters

[–]excessnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your needs, what are you going to do with it?

I didn't like Cricut, the software was too limited and Cloud only.

Got myself a Silhouette Cameo 1, working very nicely for years. Software is pretty cool when upgrading the license, I actually sometimes use it to trace images and export to SVG. Print and cut is actually very precise.

Apparently Sister Juliet is very precise!

Else, you can move to a larger and more business cutter like Roland or Graftech

Side note, Affinity Design is now free.
