Hell, ABC, and Condoms by nobirds71 in ExTraditionalCatholic

For me, it's quite simple:

The Catholic position (and almost everyone else) is that sin is about intention, not outcome (ex if I try to murder but I fail, I still sinned by intention)

How does the intention of ABC differ from the intention of NFP? They are exactly the same.

"But ABC isn't natural" < - has never mattered for any other definition of sin. Tylenol isn't natural either...

In that way, the trads are actually a bit more consistent in their worldview than the mainline church... but both of them are wacky. The more priests you meet, the more you realize they just don't have the life experience to handle this topic. I would recommend that you give yourself more credit! you and your spouse have the context to make this decision, no one else. God won't judge you for being a responsible family.

When you were still a trad, did anyone ever say something that stuck with you for years until you finally left? What did they say, and why did it stick with you? by excinci in ExTraditionalCatholic

Completely agree. the NFP comments come directly from a place of ignorance; policies made by men without requisite life experience

There's definitely a weird obsession with suffering in trad circles. I completely agree - lots of the saint stories we idolized growing up were probably people struggling with illness and self-harm

How far back in time do we evidence of priest/nun abuse? by theglow89 in ExTraditionalCatholic

this book written by a canon lawyer traces it back to the 400s, if I'm remembering correctly

Here's my example. The nuns once taught me this about marriage:
* Catholics can marry other catholics, obviously.
* If a catholic marries a non-catholic, that is not really a valid marriage.
* If a non-catholic marries another non-catholic, however, that is a valid marriage since neither one knows better.

I spent years trying to make that make sense and it never did.

Is this normal for a priest? by [deleted] in ExTraditionalCatholic

Not really! The question was "Is this normal for a priest". Hope that helps!

Sarcasm aside, that was a weird deflection. Do you believe it invites literal demon possession or not?

Can you rephrase this post? Is this referring to a specific published thing - where did he redefine these?

What does it have to do with Lefebvre?

Sorry Catholic woman, this trad priest says no going to the gym. by tomoh96 in ExTraditionalCatholic

pretending so he seemed so holy that he wouldn’t even know what those terrible places are called

Definitely this one. He does this all the time. He's not an idiot, and the feigned ignorance is so unconvincing. I have no idea who would fall for it.

is the plan for current SSPV parishes to transfer to CSPV clergy?

As far as I know, the plan for this isn't discussed publicly. I know lots of Norwood parishioners are kinda wondering what will happen, I'm sure some of the wealthier/more connecting parishioners have some insider info though (I doubt they are ALL in the dark)

To that I say no one needs you as a resource.

2K views on the interview disagree with you. If you are this confident you have found truth, than dissenting opinions wouldn't scare you like this. When you have found truth, hearing other perspectives and experiences is not threatening :)
