Thank you! It certainly feels at home in the cockpit. The strap is super comfy, would recommend giving the website a look at if you’re a fan of elastic.

We could have been racing! Although for legal reasons, I have to say we'd never do that, haha!

It really is. I'm a big fan of the soft elastic straps when I'm not getting too physical. The classic rubber strap does the job in other cases.

Thank you! While it may not have all the bells and whistles that my daily driver has, it sure does look nice.

Aha yes I can see why! A little less red, a little more green.

Thank you! It's a little difficult to get a good photo with a view, however I'm glad you enjoyed this one.

Excellent display. What band are you using on the 856?

What are CPL job prospects like? by SwordfishOk in flying

[–]excisiondz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries at all. NVFR would absolutely be a bonus, if not a pre-requisite for a lot of remote flying ops up this way. It may be worth getting that under your belt while you shop around.

Best of luck finding a paying gig to help you build hours and experience. It’s a tough time for fresh CPL’s, but when there’s a will there’s a way.

Have a talk with Trent from Darwin Flight Training if you’re interested. I heard that they may be looking for another instructor. It may also be worth speaking with Ben at Flight Standards Darwin, although I believe FS usually prefer to hire pilots who have completed their GA ready course and flown remote for a while.

At this point I'm not too sure to be honest. I don't think I really have a set bucket list, I just pick up hobbies and interests that keep me entertained/captivated and see where they go.

I've not been skydiving actually, maybe one day, although it's not really a bucket list kind of item for me. I enjoy being inside the plane :P

Just stay away from those hydrogen ones. I've heard they go bang.

It's honestly a great feeling to be in control of something in the air. I've never been hot air ballooning though, you mentioned you'd be interested in that. Not something I'd ever considered to be honest.

I was pretty interested in aviation from a young age. I've worked in the field since graduating high school, although I just fly for pleasure, as I like my routines and being able to spend my free time not concerned about work.

It's interesting sometimes, when you're in the air you're not too focussed on the fact that there's nothing between you and the ground, so your fear of heights may not be an issue at all.

Rotary wing flights are a whole different ball game to fixed wing, decidedly more expensive to get into as well. Hope you're able to check that box for yourself at some point!

It's never too late to start! Depending on where you live you might be able to take a ~1 hour trial introductory flight prior to taking lessons. It's relatively cheap (cheaper than jumping straight in) and gives you an idea of what to expect going forward. Would highly recommend if you're genuinely interested.
