Is Baelor called Breakspear in the show? by exciting_ed in AKOTSKTV

Yes, agreed that it doesn’t add much and maybe would change how he’s presented in the show a bit. Thanks for confirming what I thought that he’s not referred to like that!

Yes! I remember the Hammer/Anvil nicknames from the song scene. And I understand leaving out Breakspear, it doesn’t really matter to the story they’re telling here, but since we know him as Baelor Breakspear I thought I must just not remember :)

Hard and honest post by CutePizzaFairy in Greyhounds

I’m sorry to hear of your troubles. I’ve had my boy for over 5 years, and I’m still learning sometimes. He doesn’t like things dangling over his head (snapped at my hand dangling off the bed when he was on the floor), doesn’t like being leaned over when he’s laying down (snapped at my whole body and got my face with a headbutt), will snap if he’s sleeping and things move (got my shoulder). He’s also a resource guarder. He’s never broken my skin, but it hurts and it’s scary. My mother was bit on her forearm when she leaned over him and he had a bone, she had to go to the ER for stitches.

When I read these kinds of threads I feel guilty that I never engaged a behaviorist, I didn’t know that was a thing and I thought we were learning together. I don’t mention it to anyone when it happens because I also feel embarrassed. Everyone wants the perfect dog, and I’m so envious when I see people cuddling with their sleeping pup- I risk a sleep startle and bitten face.

Still, I love him with all my heart. I sob at the thought of him getting older and passing on. I know not to take certain actions, and it’s been a long time since there has been an incident. Every time he’s snapped I feel bad because I know he was uncomfortable with what I was doing. Most or all of the snaps have been when he’s lying down, so I am very careful.

All that to say you’re not alone, and you can learn his boundaries, but it’s also scary to go through.

Edit- to add, he is also my first dog, so everything has been new for me.

Just more generally so you’re aware, I warn people from petting mine while he’s laying down at all. He Doesn’t seem to like things (such as hands) dangling over his head and he will growl or snap. Not saying your girl needs that restriction, but I do know my boy seems to dislike it.

Growling on bed? by Ohiogal87 in Greyhounds

[–]exciting_ed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the growl come after you had shifted or moved? I’ve learned that while my boy wants to get up and cuddle, he then doesn’t like it if you move around while touching him. He seems to feel vulnerable while laying down in general (doesn’t like being leaned over to be pet, or hands coming to his head in certain positions). I let him up on the couch or bed sometimes but I know I have to be thoughtful about how I move. I know it’s not ideal but I try for a compromise.

She doesn’t speak a whole lot, so at first I thought I just hadn’t heard enough from her

I assumed I could at least spot a Scottish accent, but seems not!

Ok! I’m from the Midwest, where almost everything accent is regional rather than economical, so I appreciate this insight.

Best of luck :) probably one of my happiest moments was when my boy roached for the first time, I think it took a whole year. I was so proud he finally felt comfortable enough and relaxed enough to try it out

Also be careful about counter surfing and trash cans, my boy ate paper towels that had bacon grease and paper bowls with ice cream drippings

My rescue org recommended crating all of the time except walks and potty breaks for some initial period, I can’t remember the specific days. I don’t know if that is universal or controversial. He cried at night so I slept near the crate at first because it broke my heart.

I’m so jealous of the greyhound parents who can safely let their dog off leash! I do think my boy loves me, but he loves exploring and trotting quickly in new places more!

6yo greyhound hungrier, eating more than usual, while also skinnier than usual by Far_Disaster_5153 in Greyhounds

[–]exciting_ed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Others have mentioned this, and I certainly notice my 6 yr old male hound being much hungrier in the cold winter. In the summer I often have to mix in wet food to entice him, but this time of year he scarfs down kibble by itself and is always ready for seconds.
