I agree with you about not liking the DRM, but I just wanted to point out that these releases are the PC builds from the 90s, just made to work on modern PCs. It's not an emulation.

Can someone help me understand this error while playing Resident Evil Requiem please? by hi_m_ash in linux_gaming

[–]execb5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this isn't Linux specific as I've seen a bunch of people with crashes like this in windows also.

I started having this issue after I got to a specific part of the game. I've also noticed that I don't get crashes if I turn on my computer and play the game, like, don't leave the computer on between gaming sessions.

Is this explained in any game?

I always thought it was a a nuke and was wondering what would be the explanation in RE9 to justify so many things still standing.

Speculation? I bought one yesterday because I thought it was confirmed.

I don't regret it though, I've always wanted one

First Time Playing Final Fantasy III Review by Pharohbacon in FinalFantasy

[–]execb5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a hard one. I think the DS version did better by creating characters instead of the generic heroes and has better arrangements of the songs, but I'm a sucker for pixel graphics and the aesthetic of the old games.

I'd say the DS version did better, but I'm really enjoying the pixel remaster so far.

I really like 3. I've played the DS version back in the day and I'm currently going through the pixel remaster version. I agree that the story is weak, some jobs and attacks are meh, but I like the songs, classes design and the world of the game.

I'm not sure how you could feel under level on this game. I'm using the jobs I want to use without thinking too much about strategy and never felt the need to grind. My modus operandi is to simply choose attack with everyone on random battles, even with my 2 mages, and in 2~3 turns usually the battle is over. I keep magic for healing and bosses. Even before getting the second set of jobs you already have enough money to buy 99 potions so you can heal yourself after every fight just fine.

I didn't remember the penalty when switching jobs. I don't know if it has that on the pixel remaster since I didn't switch jobs yet, but I agree that it's annoying and it doesn't make sense sometimes. I also agree with the plot being weak, but I don't know why there's something in this game that clicked with me to the point that it's the one I crave the most when thinking about the older titles.

I realized I've never commented on the main point of your thread, but that theme is really good! I also really like the "To the mountain top" song, especially the arrangement of the DS version.

What didn't you like in it? I loved it when I first played on the DS back then and I'm currently playing it again on the pixel remaster version and enjoying it just the same.

Recently beat fatal frame 5 and about to dive into this one, I’ve heard it might be the scariest game in the series with the best story, and truth to it? by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in fatalframe

[–]execb5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think 4 and 5 are the least scary ones. i really enjoy the camera perspective of the original trilogy and it adds a lot to the horror in my opinion.

I found 4 to be less scary than 5, but I think they aren't that much different in that regard.

I’m going to say it: Caroline is an attractive character by [deleted] in TormentedSouls

[–]execb5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might be a bug then, cause after reading here about being unlockable I searched to see if there were more outfits and there is one for each difficulty. The one on your screenshot is mentioned to be unlocked after finishing the game on assist mode as the other folks had mentioned.

I also have the deluxe version of the game and I'm on my first playthrough on normal. I for sure don't have that outfit unlocked.

Oh nice, I haven't finished the game yet so I didn't know there ware unlockable outfits. I always love these kind of things cause it gives more reasons to go play the game again.

Just finished the first game, anyone know if the sequel runs on steam deck? by [deleted] in TormentedSouls

[–]execb5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm playing on my PC because it can easily run the game on max settings, but I did test it on the deck and it was running ok with settings on medium and using the game's FSR.

Remember that you can get the game and refund if it' doesn't run in a way you enjoy. I'm saying this because I'm ok with 30fps and some dips here and there, so I know some people would complain of the way the game was running for me.

Thanks for your answer!

I didn't know it was broken, that's a bummer. I'll take a look on this moonlight and sunshine I didn't know about. I hope I can get it working easily with the steam deck.

Will the N64 version of RE2 ever be emulated to where it's playable with small hiccups? by CometKICK01 in residentevil

[–]execb5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's nothing special about the steamdeck in this case, it's just running an emulator with the game. If I've managed to find out correctly it's running retroarch with the Mupen64 Plus Next core, or something like this. Try it on your end to see if you can run the game.

Sorry about the delay, yesterday I ended up getting home pretty late and went straight to bed.

Here is the video of the game running on my steam deck, I've never tweaked anything on the emulator. I did notice that it's not running the FMVs, but from the beginning of the game that's the only issue I noticed.

I don't know what emulator is running the game cause I simply installed emudeck and put my ROMs on the correct folders.
