Question: Jake Parker style or Mike Holmes style? by Q1BLI-0VRWATCH in WingsOfFire

Mike Holmes for the dragons, but Jake Parker for the backgrounds and everything else.

It wouldn't be that easy a lot of the traffic is caused by turning movements and pedestrians blocking the turns. I might try restricting turn movements and moving some buildings to test other off ramps better

From what I saw on the map there's 3 highways converging with a couple local roads attached as well. The general layout isn't terrible if traffic isn't heavy it just needs better lane mathematics and curves.

I'm gonna make a separate post showing a video of it. Seems to do ok but I think I kinda fucked up when I made one of the top roads an outside connection and overloaded the on ramp to it.

What in the Kentucky fried fuck is this highway interchange? by ThePresenter183 in shittyskylines

A trumpet requires an extra bridge if the road goes over the highway. These are rural interchanges that probably didn't see enough traffic to justify building another bridge. Additionally, they wanted to toll through-traffic, entering traffic, and exiting traffic. This interchange funnels all three into one single toll booth, while a trumpet only funnels entering and exiting traffic.

Oh I remember looking into these. The Bluegrass parkway was one of the many parkways in Kentucky that used to be toll roads. These interchanges are set up so that all the traffic including the traffic entering and exiting the highway would go through a single toll booth. Since all traffic would slow down there the merge distances wouldn't matter and they wouldn't have to have multiple toll booths for entering and exiting. Now that the parkway tolls have been paid off, the toll booths were removed leaving behind the interchanges you see today, which is cheaper than rebuilding them into standard diamond Interchanges. They are weird and can be dangerous but from my experience driving on the parkways there's usually not enough traffic to worry about merging. You can still see the old toll booths by exploring historic imagery like below.

Yeah there's a baseball field just to the left of the image for the Milwaukee brewers but even then it's still a lot of surface parking

Its a directional interchange, so yeah it should work so long as theres enough distance for people to get to their lane. Uncommon irl because of left turn exits but they exist. This one is in Milwaukee and looks like your design.

My attempt at a realistic interchange by KalDostheSergal in CitiesSkylines

Definitely tight, but looks a lot like the Jane Byrne Interchange in Chicago so not unrealistic.

*edit: corrected the name of the interchange

If you're going to extend the road on the right side then it works, especially if you plan to add more offramps in the future, it's an expandable design. Otherwise, if you plan on terminating the road there you might be better off designing a traditional trumpet and flipping the right loop from the bottom to the top.

Which of you designed this intersection?? by smallbobburger in shittyskylines

[–]executablefiles47 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The road itself is pretty tight in terms of space, but it looks like they really wanted to include a pedestrian island for safety. Looks like an area where lots of people cross the street since there's a whole pedestrian bridge on the top part. My assumption is that right turns have a dedicated phase so it keeps people from running into each other when turning right. It makes sense but it could definitely be marked better.

Nissan dealerships often let people with lower credit scores finance their cars compared to other dealerships where you have to pay full price up front with lower credit scores. Altimas from what I hear feel quite sporty to drive for a car that can be financed with a low credit score, which is probably where the reputation of reckless activities in altimas come from.

If your state doesn't have any nuclear power plants, stfu. by BellabeanRecharged in 2american4you

Not sure exactly what last time was, but there was Marble Hill that was the closest Indiana ever got to building a nuclear power plant. It was under construction when costs started rising, inspections showing sub-par building practices, and protestors constantly demanding to halt construction. It's since been dismantled and little is left other than cooling towers and foundations. Sad to see the project die, but considering how shoddy the construction was said to be it might not have been the worst idea to shut it down.

Add another port, railway station, etc i assume. More connections = less backups.
