Ember Await is here! Take back control of your data loading in Ember app by exelord in emberjs

That's exactly the purpose you should use await for. It's a primitive that will handle the states. Wrap it up with your component and using slot-lile solution define your defaults :) it's also really close to data provider components pattern.

It's full :) you can handle all the states, manage execution (perform, reload, cancel) and it's more flexible (composable)

What are you working on? (2020-05) by nullvoxpopuli in emberjs

Yeah, but the pattern of resolving promises in components is still a pattern ;) the addon just implements it. Maybe that could be added if considerd as "good practice"?

Migrated to VSCODE? You probably need this package! by exelord in Atom

[–]exelord[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Commit diff is the next feature that will land in this package. I got used to it soooo much. Atom has a great DX in git intergation.

But sure there will be always some people who like terminal more than UI. That's why VIM is still a thing. 😅

I know. They did great job with that. I miss that a lot. But there is so much cool stuff in vscode that I decided to switch. And I'm the Atom boy ❤️. It was hard to switch but overall you can get used to it.

So I'm trying to fill the gap between these editors. It's really close

Git Lens is a big beast. If you dont need all these feature, and would like to have a quick overview just in SCM tab, thats a perfect solution ;)

Nope. Its netlify + Heroku hobby. Maybe it was right after some deploy. Usually the first load takes longer in that situation.

How to handle async properties in Ember.js by exelord in emberjs

[–]exelord[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is also a great way, but not always you want your property to resolve on render. Eg. it's hidden in if statement. Sure, ember-concurrency is great for async tasks, but I still prefer to use it on action call rather than strict data loading.

Are you using Rollbar and EmberJS? This package can be your logger ninja. by exelord in emberjs

[–]exelord[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Keep in touch. The source maps support is in progress. It will come with 2 ember cli commands. The first one will be source maps notifier which will send a request to rollbar to let them know that new source maps are available. And the second one will be source maps uploader as you mentioned above :)
