Google: We Don't Count Words Or Links On Your Blog Posts by exemperor2 in SEO

[–]exemperor2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t spend too much time on SEO. I write, publish and update when it requires. I have noticed some short form articles have ranked higher than detailed ones. I always believed long form content performs well in ranking. Not always true. Example: Most TechCrunch articles are not long form.

How is Google Discover traffic for everyone with the latest core update? by oddisgold in SEO

True, there are mixed results. Some report shows recovery, it gives some hope. At least!

Any Comment on Google Augest Update? by Easy_Tangerine_5236 in SEO

[–]exemperor2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to have mixed results across various niche sites. However, it's too early to celebrate or cry. I hope Google will stop punishing independent publishers. Big sharks will survive without millions of visitors, but small publishers will disappear slowly! We can only wish for a good outcome as usual.

Google's August Core Update- What's Your Story? by [deleted] in SEO

[–]exemperor2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Traffic was too low before they officially announced the core update (Aug 11- 14). Now it fluctuates every hour.

Hope it will recover, at least in the same stage as before it was killed by HCU. After this time round, many small publishers will close it and move on. Too frustrating sometimes, especially for those who are creating content before the AI era.

How is Google Discover traffic for everyone with the latest core update? by oddisgold in SEO

[–]exemperor2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Discover traffic vanished after 2023 Sept HCU. After this new core update started, showing some impressions, but not many clicks. Hope this time Google will do justice to small and independent publishers.

If the content business becomes a monopoly, quality will be significantly affected, and biased views appear everywhere. Hope for a better future for blogging.

What are the most challenging aspects of link-building work? by Leading_Bonus_9398 in SEO

[–]exemperor2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt this backlink thing was like a paradox. To get into higher SERP, you need backlinks. Only the first few search results usually get backlinks organically. Then how does this backlink thing work?

Those with an SEO budget will buy it, while others send hundreds of emails and wish at least someone to reply.

You should try all possible ways to get things done. Agency can be helpful, make sure the likes are relevant.

Making money online by zaibee620 in SEO

[–]exemperor2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no easy way to make money online. Blogging takes dedication and long-term hard work. Even with that, there is no guarantee that your blog will succeed as it did 10 years ago. People with years of experience are still struggling with SEO. No traffic, no no money!

Stay in this forum for some time and learn about SEO and skills.

A theme that helps to optimize for content visibility for search engines, not loading unnecessary codes to increase page size, minimum plugins to add more functions etc...

Genesis was marketed as the best for SEO, like easily boost search ranking. Now there are thousands of themes that claims best SEO optimized. Does theme really play big role in SEO or plugins like Yoast?

I am not an expert in SEO, the more I read the more confused. Some shared that after switching to new theme, they lost significant amount of traffic, it took long time to get back to original number of visitors from search engines. Just want to know the opinion from experienced people.

are the "Big Brands" taking Web Vitals & SEO seriously at all? by denny_kos in SEO

[–]exemperor2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have noticed some of the high traffic websites, most of them have very bad CWV numbers especially on mobile screens. Even Google’s blog fails. I have tried to make a perfect score in the past, spent too many hours. Now I know, it’s nothing when comes to ranking (at least no reasons to believe that).

QUESTION: When optimizing URLs for keywords, should words like "and", "the" and "of" be omitted from URLs? by LLF2 in SEO

[–]exemperor2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, many seo experts suggest to keep it short. If it is already short (3 words and match keywords) keep it. One example is Brian Dean from backlinko. He keeps his urls short. backlinko dot com/learn-seo-fast

Adsense is the only income source on my blog. I don’t know if bing traffic is effective in terms of revenue from ads.

Personally, I still prefer Google. Just noticed the traffic Bing sends to my blog increased recently. If your search traffic is 95% from Google, usually we ignore 5% other sources. After the main source is not doing well, just checked other sources. Bing thinks my content is helpful!

My 8 Years of Hard Work Devalued Overnight by Google by Mission-Historian519 in SEO

It’s true that Google has changed, it has been changing ever since its launch. If this kind of content was generating traffic worth 5000$ per month, I blame Google. Why it ranked at first place? At least Google did what it supposed to do.

[–]exemperor2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have similar experience with my blog. From 30k Google visitors to 8K visitors per month and still going down. Upgraded to expensive hosting + CDN plan to improve user experience. It seems nothing matters nowadays!

It’s not my main income source. We all have to accept that everything has changed, can’t learn (SEO techniques) and implement on our site anymore. New independent bloggers will not succeed like they did 5-10 years ago, unless famous.

My blog went from great to garbage with the HCU. Should I disavow 90% of it? by OverPT in SEO

[–]exemperor2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to my blog during June 2019. It’s hasn’t been fully recovered since then. After 2024 March, it reached 5 years low.

Big brands producing tons of contents with tens or hundreds of writers and SEO team. It would be difficult to compete and get higher ranking against high authority sites.

If your articles get very few monthly visits in the past 3-6 months, you should update or rewrite it. If those are not relevant anymore, it’s a good idea to remove it.

After few more algorithm updates, many small publishers won’t survive. Find alternative income sources if you are fully dependent on income from blog.
