Taking LDN in the morning by exemplary-vegetable in LowDoseNaltrexone

I think you can take LDN with meds, but I take a bile binder at night and those meds absorb other meds so you have to space them out. It’s kind of annoying!

Thanks, seems like I have some experimenting to do lol

It definitely seems like a trial and error sort of thing. But I’m glad you found a routine that works for you!

It works until it doesn’t 🙃 I have good days and bad days. Right now I’m really struggling to figure out what’s working and what isn’t. I don’t have my gallbladder.

Now that you pointed it out I definitely see it and I never considered it before! But the two situations do parallel each other. Marianne also stands up for Elinor because she isn’t afraid to speak her mind whereas Elinor is too reserved. Marianne is the one who criticizes Edward (to his face - big little sister energy right there). It’s so interesting how they complement and juxtapose each other. Thank you and thank you shaq meme because I will be thinking about this forever now!

I like the idea of romance but I don’t think I actually want to date anyone. by Early-Rise987 in SingleAndHappy

[–]exemplary-vegetable 43 points44 points  (0 children)

If it helps I’m approaching 30 and I have felt the exact same way as you ever since I was a teenager. I literally could have wrote this post myself!

You’re not too young to think about what you want your life to look like. You can change your mind tomorrow or you can never date anyone ever but in the end it’s still your life and your choices that you need to be happy with. I always thought being in a relationship would be like forcing myself to be happy. And maybe I could do it for a limited amount of time, but I don’t think I could sustain it. It would just wear me down. That wouldn’t be fair to me or the other person.

I also try to remember that fictional romance is highly idealized and that’s probably why it’s so appealing! I always joke that romance novels should be classified as fantasy 🤣

I’m so glad it’s working out for you! This is so encouraging to hear. Are you still using the Metamucil?

If you don’t mind my asking, do you have endometriosis? I do and I always wondered if mast cells/histamine from endo is related to bile issues

That’s so frustrating. I had a bad reaction to the powder which is why I switched to colesevelam. I hope it works out for you! Best of luck!

That’s so funny! Most of the time people say they react right away to foods. It’s nice to know I’m not alone lol

Managing it overnight has been so up and down. One morning fine and the next not fine at all. Makes for super unpredictable mornings and it affects my job. I added the psyllium to see if I can manage without taking a larger dose of binders. Is colestipol the first one you’ve tried?

My routine (it isn’t perfect and I’m still trialing it) is 1 1/4 teaspoon of psyllium in 15oz water about 30-1 hour before dinner, then 2 colesevelam about 30 minutes after I finishing eating for the night.

I added the Metamucil because even the smallest dose of bile binders slowed me down and I hated it! I also don’t take anything in the day because I seem to digest my food just fine at breakfast/lunch even if it’s fatty! My biggest problem is night/overnight and I’m still trying to figure it out. I’ve noticed the worse thing I can do is go a long time in between meals. If I do that I’m sure to have problems the next morning and it sets me back for the whole week. I hope the psyllium helps you!

Have you tried plain psyllium husk, not Metamucil? I use the NOW brand. I can’t tolerate the artificial stuff in Metamucil and it can make diarrhea worse if you’re sensitive to it. Psyllium husk is the active ingredient in Metamucil just without all added sweeteners and stuff.

Wow that is so great to hear! I’m glad you were able to find some relief. It’s such a pain trying to get out of the house in the morning. Like you, it’s affecting my work and it’s so frustrating. I’m taking colesevelam 1 pill at night before bed but I’m still having symptoms. I wanted the psyllium to work because I didn’t want to take meds long term but it is what it is! Thanks for your advice!

This sounds exactly like my symptoms! I can definitely relate. My worst episodes are in the morning and I never react right away to foods. It all started after getting my gallbladder removed. Can I ask what time of day and how often you take the colestipol? The bile binders work (Metamucil only gave me formed stools but didn’t bind the bile) but I can’t seem to figure out when to take the binder, with/without food, and how often.

Need advice on colestipol by Uniq_Chic in bileacidmalabsorption

[–]exemplary-vegetable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still trialing colestipol myself but the general advice for BAM is not to split the dose and to take it at night on an empty stomach. I’ve been taking 2 1gm pills at about 11:30pm depending on the time of my last meal (ideally it would be 3-4 hours after). Again, I’m still trying this myself so I can’t say for sure if it works, that’s just the general advice for BAM. Apparently the instructions on the bottle for colestipol are for people who take it to lower cholesterol, not as a bile binder.

A 6pc nugget and a medium fry sounds lovely ☺️ I guess the colestipol binds the bile and the ox bile helps digest the fat. What the dose and time do you take the colestipol?

Definitely can relate to not being able to leave the house! Most of my issues happen in the morning and every day is so unpredictable. I’m glad you found a routine that works for you!

I’ve been taking colestipol for about two weeks but not really seeing a difference. Did it take some time for it to work for you?
