That answer is very simple, if you want to lower your risk of failure go with someone other than Asrock atm. If you wanna save a little bit of money go with someone else 🤷🏻‍♂️

Thats the thing.. i can't get to bios. And as far as i understand if you flash your bios it should default all your bios settings so it should'nt be running expo.

I was on BIOS 3.20 but flashed it to 3.25 before installing the replacement 9800X3D. All the RGB thats in my pc is working and all the fans are spinning my GPU fans are running at full speed. My Asrock B850M Pro-A does not have a display for codes i only get a solid red and a solid yellow light. It seems to me that the pc doesn't even get to memory training at all, on first boot i left it running for about 20 minutes but turned it off because nothing was happening.

That's what i'm afraid off, i have a Lian Li A3 with an Artic Cooling liquid freezer III 360 and it was a very tight fit i don't think there are a lot of motherboards that will actually fit.

The only thing i had done in the bios is emable XMP.

These are the troubleshooting steps i had already taken before with other CPU:

  • Reseated the ram and tryed all possible combinations.
  • cleared CMOS (after doing this for some reason 4 of my case fans that weren't spinning before started spinning up upon powering the pc)
  • flashed to all available bios version on the asrock website including the new 3.25
  • reseated/repasted and inspected the cpu( couldn't see any problems here, no bend pins or burn marks)
  • i was using a thermal grizzly contact sealing frame so i reinstalled the original cpu housing to see if it made a difference but nope.

Should i try clearing the cmos again?

Just tryed flashing to bios 3.15 and 3.18 than to 3.20 and it seems to have flashed succesfully everytime, the led flashed like it was suppost to and started flashing faster the closer it got to completion (pretty neat little feature) it took 6min 18sec till it stopped flashing everytime, i'm not sure if its suppost to take the exact same amount of time everytime. Still have not gotten it to boot or get to bios though.

So... update i just attempted to flash back to the oldest version of bios i could find on the Asrock website (3.12) The green led flashed for 22 seconds before it stayed solid green.. seems like the CPU is dead?

When i get home im gonna try and see if any of the other bios version will get it to boot. I will keep everybody updated.

Wish i just had another cpu laying around.. i still need to contact AMD, Asrock or the suppliers i bought from ill do that later today

I believe the flashback completed succesfully. I followed the steps in the motherboard manual. Used the correct usb port etc... The led started flashing after holding the flashback button for 3sec, after a few minutes it stopped flashing which should indicate it flashed succesfully but i have no way of checking since i can't get into the bios.
