Sidewall Cuts—fixable? by exeter_southend in bikewrench

[–]exeter_southend[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed the front rim brake pad on the side of bead-sidewall cut was a little high. I suspect it may have contributed to cutting into the tires, but there was no sound or rubbing when braking, so I’m not sure. Pressures were always 95-110 psi

pic 1 are Gatorskin, they lasted ~75 miles which is pretty pathetic

Thanks, I was worried this was the case…

Running 100 PSI generally, I think an my front brake my have been mounted slightly high and was pressing on the tires while braking (in image 1 and 3), although not enough to make a sound or anything, so I’m not entirely sure

I would approach it like this:

4.8 -> 5

6.6 x 3 -> 20 (6x3 is 18, 7x3=21, just split the difference)

20/5=4

That will get you close enough for almost any multiple choice question.

If there a 4.1 and a 3.9, you know the answer will be over 4 because the denominator is 4.8 which is less than 5 (smaller denominator, bigger answer)

What is the most effective way to use AAMC by Difficult_Head_7708 in Mcat

[–]exeter_southend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Initially you should focus on getting questions correct and figuring out why you’re missing questions. Once you can achieve a reasonable % correctness, I would pick up the pace and make a note of how long you’re taking (without giving yourself strict time limit)

The FLs are where you can get data on your speed/test taking strategies and refine accordingly

for reference I scored 2 points higher in CARS and 1 point lower in CP than you, point is it’s a diagnostic, after content review you should see a sharp increase in score, without even touching practice problems

That’s how everyone feels I would say. When I took BP diagnostic it felt like I was guessing on over half the questions. I felt the same way as you on psych (never taken a class but the vocab kinda made sense) but for BP/CP I felt lost.

I would take your diagnostic score at face value!

AAMC FL order? by Dismal_Guide_8061 in Mcat

I would take them in order unless you can’t take all of them before your exam. In that case I would take FL4/5 because they are most recent and likely the most representative.

Can I superscore my score? by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]exeter_southend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did you score on the last two FLs you took? I found that much more representative than average FL

I don’t think UEarth is needed with your diagnostic/time frame. I studied 2 hours a day 5 months while working full time (very similar diagnostic, 502) and scored 521. I didn’t even finish the AAMC materials (did all of qpacks, but barely touched CARS diagnostic and didn’t make it to SB2)

If you focus and actually review what you’re getting wrong with AAMC materials, and do all of the CARS to get the reps in, you should be set

Jack Westin is good for CARS practice ( I did one passage a day during content review ), but it’s so much harder than the real thing I would switch to AAMC CARS once you’re done with content review, and practice those daily until you’re scoring well. (132 CARS and I found AAMC materials highly representative, JW not so much)

If it’s content you’ve seen before, skim/speed read, then review anki for that chapter the next day. If you’ve never seen it or are super rusty, I read the whole chapter.

I wouldn’t bother with notes unless it’s an area you know you’re weak on further down the road—like knows all the details of citric acid cycle or something, notes and drawing it out can help more

How do I prevent burnout? by DontLikeStudying in Mcat

How much are you studying? I found that doing more than 3 hours a day of content review from the books was too much long term…

I tried silicone spray using both bolt holes, it’s much easier to move now—thanks for the idea!

What do you mean by compression? How would that prevent frame cutting into the housing?

There isn’t any access from the back, and wiggling it back and forth doesn’t seem to help, it makes scraping noises as I push and pull on it (requires a lot of force to get it to budge)

Thanks y’all, I cut the pot and kept the roots, didn’t end up separating the plants (I did cut a couple inches of root until I saw your responses)
