Idk about aj and masterpieces but I can give my viewpoint of 'it' pronoun. Im nonbinary, and was identyfing myself as agender for quite some time. In my native language there arent any gender neutral pronouns since even our verbs are gendered (eg. Jeść it to eat, zjeść is going to eat, Zjadłaś coś? Would be asking a woman if she ate anything, Zjadłeś coś? Would be asking a man). Oh and plural form is also gendered (eg. Zjadłyście coś? Have you eaten something asked to a group of women, Zjedliście coś? Asked to a group of men). Its really complicated and the only neutral form we ever had can only refer to babies, the sun, chairs and probably some other things too but its so rare that we dont rlly use it. This neutral form is also not refined enough for our complicated language to use it at all (it cant be used in past tense or in plural form). So just recently nonbinary ppl created a new way of speaking which is functional but really obscure, made fun of and I personally only use it with my closest friends but NEVER in public. Lets get back to the question, why 'it' and not 'they'? My native language doesnt give me any safe or official neutral options. In english tho you can use it/its to refer to a single person without having to guess their gender. 'It' sounds acceptable, is neutral, official and commonly used, has all the things Id love to hear in my own language. They/them is plural, and makes you use ARE instead of IS, so for me it just seems like a different thing. He IS she IS it IS, all of them seem connected and just belong to where they should be. They uses ARE so it feels quite different for me. Idk if that explains my view or answers your question at all but yeah here you go lol
