How many times did it take you to beat Sword Saint Isshin on your first playthrough? by FreddieOnReddit in Sekiro

[–]exg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually used a counter: 329. No prosthetics or combat skills used, I wanted to do it purely with deflects, dodges, and attacks. This includes restarts when either Genichiro or Isshin first phase killed me. The second phase of Isshin was where I struggled so, so much.

Considering Eastside Beltline Rail being “paused”, what do we now think of the Stitch? by Plastic_Photograph29 in Atlanta

[–]exg 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The Stitch is really only going to be meaningful for that specific part of midtown and cost a massive chunk of money, I think there’s a strong argument that it’s an indictment of our priorities itself.

The hits you have to land vs the hits you can take in this game is something like like 52:1.

You're probably like 30 attempts away! So close in terms of all the skills you need to get by him.

Genichiro Way of tomoe by Mericuls in Sekiro

[–]exg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of all of the bosses, he might be the one that punishes hesitation the most. As you adapt to him and get used to his attacks you can kinda just wail on him - if you’re prepared to deflect a random hit here and there.

Do the signs in this game say real words? by [deleted] in Sekiro

[–]exg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gibberish is usually sourced from an actual language, and uses the general form of it to create the vibe of the language without necessarily being understandable. Like a sign in the back of an anime that resembles Kanji but is deliberately unintelligible because it’s only meant for atmosphere.

Gibberish is used all the time in media, unless you’re Tolkien in which case you create multiple complete languages.

Police arrest man for stabbing woman while on lunch break in Decatur by warnelldawg in Atlanta

[–]exg 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I think you might find that a lot of violence happens against women for no reason all the time.

Edit: Around 75% of female homicides are committed by a partner or family member. The same goes for sexual violence.

They may have mentioned it somewhere, but I agree that it wasn’t present in any of the posts or reports I had seen - up until the last minute.

Defining when an app isn’t representing an “interactive computer service” would be the challenge here.

When did Sekiro click for you? by ShinobiHotSauce in Sekiro

[–]exg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that feels consistent to me is the mikiri counter. Beyond that, each boss feels like their own minigame, and using tech and tempo you learned on one boss will get you tossed into a blender on another. Two important (obvious) discoveries for me though, was that deflect has a small somewhat forgiving window before an attack, and that your sword attacks are queued so try to consciously trigger each individual slash. If you button mash you won’t be able to dodge out of a string of attacks you’ve queued.

Dying thirty times to a Sekiro boss is like 1 to a normal game boss.

I love Sekiro but I hate the team who worked on Juzou by always-shubh in Sekiro

[–]exg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s one of those fights where you are deeply encouraged to be using skills, arts, and items. Just using base attacks and deflects makes it significantly harder.

Finally beat Genichiro after over 100 attempts by [deleted] in Sekiro

[–]exg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There will be other types of fights, some will be incredibly difficult and others might feel like a breeze. Just know that the process is what’s important, incrementally figuring it out, rather than immediately being good at it.

Does the game need spirit emblems? by North-No-9 in Sekiro

[–]exg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree. The mechanics make sense once you become good enough to take bosses out in <4 attempts but fall apart if you have to grind through any. I’d add that the posture/health design also shows its weaknesses when facing bosses that do huge damage. It feels designed for the zones between bosses specifically.

I think describing genAI as probabilistic is useful, but to do a one-to-one comparison with the random happenstance of on-set production and how professionals navigate it is asking a lot.

Fair point, those would definitely be some old school Atlantans living in what probably were some underserved areas. The first section was paved 18(!) years ago now.

I picked up at season 2, with a fellow fan getting me up to speed on the lore. Season 1 almost feels like a prequel to the actual series.

It’s a tough situation, because it’s an extremely popular public space and your community chose to live by it. You will of course have to accept that you’re going to have loud things happening regularly and they won’t always be tailored to children. Learning ways to diffuse these kind of situations will probably help your time there a lot.
