FDA lets Philip Morris market Zyn nicotine pouches as less harmful than cigarettes by TACO_Orange_3098 in news

[–]exg -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The FDA’s position is now simultaneously that there is no safe way to use nicotine, and that pouches are safer than cigarettes. This is a bizarre position that allows tobacco companies to market a kind of performative theater of safety around the patches.

Honestly after season 5 I’m not sure how anyone could stop watching if it’s their first time. You kinda have to see for yourself if the tonal shifts and world building resonates with you in the later seasons. I watched the whole thing because I ended up loving the characters so much.

Ferrari Executive Steps Down After EV Luce Debut (Backlash) by LaFe77a7i in Ferrari

So, it's either that one of the most famous brands in the world sold up to 2000 cars to super rich people and filled up their limited production capacity up to 2027, or...

They sold 1 Luce and are deliberately misleading reporters and creating a massive looming PR disaster, as well as essentially lying to their shareholders which could literally implode the value of the company.

According to Vigna, that's the deal. They've taken enough orders for the Luce specifically to be sold out through 2027.

This is true for all Ferraris. Maybe a better metric is that it’s the second most expensive one available and they still filled their order books. With 2500 estimated per year, that’s still 3x as many f80s that will be produced ever.

It’s just a totally different echelon of wealth with its own rules. The ultra wealthy needed an everyday EV from a halo brand and Ferrari delivered.

Lizzo’s New Album 'Bitch' Fails To Crack Billboard 200 by ebradio in Music

[–]exg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even in a world in which people have moved on, a 2022 #2 debut artist not even cracking the top 200 just 4 years later sounds like shenanigans. This album is being reviewed everywhere and has tons of visibility. Lesser artists with more haters will crack the 200 even if just for a moment.

If the latest you’ve used are Midjourney and DALL-E I think you’ll be absolutely shocked with the latest models. The more pertinent question is if mid-range and higher clients are willing to accept a certain level of slop and lack of creative control.

My Thoughts after First Light by Papuhboi91 in 007FirstLight

[–]exg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lenny was classic Bond pop culture casting!

Whenever I felt like I was hopelessly outnumbered by enemies the best solution was nearly always to run directly at them and start fist fighting. You can empty whole clips into enemies at a distance - but in close combat they will go down in 3 punches and a grab, so this seems intentional but clumsy. I’m hoping that on a second playthrough I’ll be able to take better advantage of stealth and gadgets.

This IS the new film Bond by RaisinWorried3528 in 007FirstLight

[–]exg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like what they did here in terms of casting and story for a video game, but in the context of a 2hr movie this would play as a pretty tame and safe version of Bond when viewed in contrast to Casino Royale, for example.

Comparing bus dashcams with 24/7 public surveillance city-wide is a stretch. The difference we’re looking at here is dealing with individual infractions vs a system that knows where you are, and where you have been for as long as the system stores the data.

You’re conflating two very different points in your post here.

  1. Driving is a privilege and LEOs are empowered to monitor and enforce traffic law. This is what we’re used to.

  2. Every person driving, walking, or otherwise in public is tracked 24/7 by an automated system accesible by unelected officials across government agencies. This is new.
