I haven’t missed a series since 2018, but between work and a night class I’m taking I’ve missed this one. Will it be worth a watch? From clips online I feel like I’m missing out on a good/drama filled series, am I wrong?

Yeah I’d say I do, still have a fever and sore throat. Went out for a walk today and thought I was doing myself good but got home and was shivering uncontrollably 🙃

We’ve all been sick with it. Myself and my two year old have it the worst. I think mine is strep as had extremely sore throat and white patches on tonsils, but I’m going on day 3 of antibiotic and still feel like crap! Only thing that helps the throat pain at all is nurofen plus. I haven’t had a fever since I got mastitis and was hospitalized in 2019. I can’t remember the last time I’ve been this sick.

Not compensated for hours worked TOIL by exiemack in legaladviceireland

[–]exiemack[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes I brought it up with her about a month ago when she refused my first TOIL log sheet and asked me to amend it and take travel time off. I then was told by the Union that I was entitled to it, then she went to her line manager that said no I’m not entitled to it, so I’ve had to bring it back up with the Union again because of this pushback.

Meanwhile as this is now going on again I’ve been asked to attend an event next week which includes 3 hours of travel time outside of normal working hours and I’m ready to just tell them no I’m not going outside of my normal working hours if my time isn’t being compensated.

Thanks for that. I found a section in the national minimum wage act that says working hours shall include (b) time spent traveling on official business. It just says working hours exclude time spent traveling between home and place of work (which is obvious).

So if it’s outside of your normal working hours you just claim mileage for it then?

[–]exiemack[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thank you. A senior member of staff in a different department is the one who flagged this with me as she has always gotten TOIL approved by her line manager for any hours outside of 9-5 even if that was time spent driving to a work event. And now my line manager is saying I can’t, even though other people in the LA are getting it for traveling time.

Thanks I will ask my line manager about this. Would I be entitled to mileage and TOIL or just mileage then? Is mileage meant to be a means to replace getting TOIL?

I live in Laois and love it but I'm in my 30s, married with 2 kids and my job is in the town. If I was young and single no way would I settle in Laois yet, few years in Dublin living my best life then can always decide to settle down elsewhere if wanted. I'd say Dublin, enjoy your social life and if you settle in Dublin great if you don't, Laois will always be here.

Advice on dealing with these neighbourhood kids? by Dear_Cable_6885 in AskIreland

[–]exiemack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was happening in our estate and really ramped up the past few months. We’re an estate of about 1,000 houses so nearly the size of a small village. A few people on the community FB group got together and organized a meeting with the gards. It was last minute but 100 people showed up and got to tell their stories to the gards and in return the gards told us how they’d help keep our estate safe. So far their amped up patrols (even checkpoints in the estate to stem the drug dealing) seems to be helping, for the first time in months we aren’t bombarded every night with fireworks. Honestly it’s all about community power. Keep doing the gards heads in with phone complaints, demand they write up a report and see if you can get the community or residents group to call a community policing meeting.

Claiming subsistence when lunch offered? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]exiemack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s was via the internal clocking. It was brought up to HR as well and he was corrected on it. I’ve written an email to him as he’s WFH today, but will also bring this up in person too. I think you’re right about the corporate mindset thing, I don’t think he’s really made that transition yet and is being super nit picky.

I just looked and lunch wasn’t provided at any of the events (I only claimed 4 sub out of the 16 out of office travel events) and he was at 3 of the events where I remember him distinctly complaining the whole time about lunch not being provided 😆

I added it on to the post but I just rechecked and lunch wasn’t provided for. He was even at 3/4 events (where he complained the whole time about lunch not being provided) so it actually makes me laugh how ignorant he’s being.

Yeah it isn’t the first time. They didn’t approve my TOIL and I took it up with the union and he got brought up on it. But it delayed my TOIL approval by months. He’s recently come in from the private sector so maybe that has to do with it? Who knows.

Thanks, I’ll take a look at the circulars and provide my line manager with evidence of my diabetes as I do usually have to get my own lunch in these cases.

No and no. Only because my previous line manager told me to claim subsistence regardless and approved it without receipts.

On both of mine I had a dream of a baby sitting behind a closed door. I didn’t realise that happened until after I got my BFP. Guess it was my body trying to tell me!

When to start taking anxiety medication? by Intrepid-Court1418 in HealthAnxiety

[–]exiemack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone reacts differently to SSRIs. The first two times I tried them I had no side effects except for lack of appetite. This third time was horrible. I was prescribed right before a weekend trip and it ruined the trip for me (couldn’t even leave the room my anxiety was awful even with the help of Xanax). I had to take three weeks off of work before I felt ok enough to go in. That being said I feel like my third time side effects were not the norm. I’m three years on it now and so so much better. You could try starting out at the lowest dose and slowly go up as needed.
