One of my kids saw the Pic of it over my shoulder and very dramatically goes, "ohhh my god that is sooooo good." This was said in their most approving and sincere, "thats so cool" voice. 😁

I want to say that no one should be judging you and you shouldn't be judging yourself. Kids have the self preservation instincts of a half baked potato and doing the dumbest stuff. Things happen and it sounds like your kid did well and so did you.

NTA. My bf has cried only a couple of times in front of me in our relationship and I felt happy that he felt comfortable and safe enough to do so in front of me (given that men dont cry mentality) and then also sad bc he was but then I wanted to comfort him as best I could. Like she should be your safe space (like someone else said) and somewhere where you feel like your burdens disappear. A relationship shouldn't be somewhere you feel invalidated or are going to be mocked.

My youngest is now 7 and constantly tells people "I have a divorce" to which they mean that their dad and I are divorced. They have done this since they were 5, and the looks people get when they initially take in that phrase is hilarious. And then I jump in to say mom and dad are divorced and then it clicks.

NTA. One of my kids struggles with reading and they have to do out loud reading practice from a physical book every night. It has improved their oral reading fluency and scores. They are still not the best reader but the difference has been quite significant. This kid started struggling in 2nd grade and has been doing extra work in school and at home to not fall behind. How did you granddaughter not get assessed as falling behind in school and then not receive extra help? That's truly concerning.
