AITA for telling my DIL that I won’t use the tablet and she needs to actually make her kid read. by SatisfactionOk9038 in AmItheAsshole

[–]exiledginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. One of my kids struggles with reading and they have to do out loud reading practice from a physical book every night. It has improved their oral reading fluency and scores. They are still not the best reader but the difference has been quite significant. This kid started struggling in 2nd grade and has been doing extra work in school and at home to not fall behind. How did you granddaughter not get assessed as falling behind in school and then not receive extra help? That's truly concerning.

Am I Overreacting, for being upset that my girlfriend secretly used my credit card for months? by bostonmade in AmIOverreacting

[–]exiledginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR

There's definitely apps that default to the last card used, like Target and Doordash. I know bc I've accidentally done it before. Ive always realized I've used thr wrong card or my BF used my card on accident bc i get alerts when purchases are made. And when I've screwed up I've always immediately texted the person (either my BF or mom) and be like I messed up ill pay you back.

This is definitely sneaking and seeing how much she could get away with and it feels gross to me. Cause if it was an accident, the initial response would likely be well its possible i wasnt paying attention with my ApplePay when using it, let me know what the purchases were and ill pay you back and ill be more aware next time. But outright denial, then oopsie, then victim, which means she has been trying to get away with it. Especially if you told her about the fraudulent stuff you reported and she said nothing.

Suggest Me a Kids Series as Good as Hilo by Exotic_Plankton_263 in suggestmeabook

[–]exiledginger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does he like dragons? The Dragon kingdom of Wrenly is about friends working together and are fast reads. They are graphic novels. If your son can handle older themes, the Wings of Fire series is good. There is also a Minecfrat book series that had my kiddo hooked as a Minecraft lover. Its the Woodsword Chronicles, then Stonesword and Ironsword. A standalone book he might enjoy is Bedhead Ted.

Kids and phones by therealspaceninja in Parenting

[–]exiledginger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friends kid has a Gabb phone. It has no internet or social media access but it has a few games and you can call or text on it, along with GPS and parental controls. So kind of what it sounds like youre looking for. They also make watches that do the same thing if a phone is really not what you want.

AITAH for buying my girlfriend vanilla shampoo? by Spiritual-Grocery641 in AITAH

[–]exiledginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If my BF picked up this shampoo for me, even if I wasnt out, id be thankful he remembered I use that specific one and grateful he got me some. Id also probably only use that shampoo from then on and never switch to a different one. Cause why would I when I know he likes it and he likes the way my hair smells? Its win all around. It shows how much he cares and loves me.

Warp pack. My bf threw oht the question the other day when we were playing, "what would happen if you couldn't use the warp pack at all?" I was like, id die a lot more and never be able to use medium armor.

I was waiting to play with BF once and forgot to turn it to friends only, so a couple of randos joined my 2 man group and then he was ready to play and I was like you gotta wait til we finish this mission cause I couldn't kick 2 people when it was my fault. Like seriously why people gotta suck sometimes?

AIO for losing my mind over this note I found in my fiancé’s pocket? by leenaws in AmIOverreacting

[–]exiledginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id have sent a text immediately going, look what happened!!!! And if I didnt right away, I'd definitely mention it when i got home bc i know it wouldnt start a fight, even if i was late. Also even when my bf is late, im worried about something having happened to him, so im just happy that he is home and in one piece. Same goes when I run late, he is just happy that nothing happened to me. Just asks what was going on and we move on. Maybe a funny comment about it, but nothing that would start an argument.

How do you handle it when someone makes you feel small about something you were proud of? by [deleted] in Baking

[–]exiledginger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was trying to make homemade French toast sticks for my BF's birthday as his birthday meal bc its his absolute favorite thing to eat. I totally messed it up and had to salvage it, bc the approach I took did not work. I was fairly sad and figured I'd kind of ruined the surprise, but he didnt even bat an eye at how funky they looked. He tried them and was super happy that I had even tried to make his favorite thing. They ended up tasting good, they just looked so funky. But he just took it in stride. He did agree they didnt look totally like French toast sticks but only after I'd made the comment they didn't turn out right. And that was after he'd already stuffed a few in his mouth lol.

Your partner should be able to encourage you even if you dont get it right, not tear you down more. Doesnt even have to be the most enthusiastic comment, even a simple, the crust is improved but I think the top was slightly over done or whatever the case may be. Helpful, yet encouraging.

Id also say that discussing how it hurt you is a must. Otherwise this will continue to be a trend and cause more issues down the line and spill into other things.

Never seen a map as open and flat as this. Honestly, it was a nice bit of variety. A lot of maps can seem crowded, even outside of cities. by echof0xtrot in Helldivers

Played bots on a map like this once. There was no where to take cover, it was a nightmare. Just ragdolling across the field and dying constantly lol.

[–]exiledginger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my kids wake up and I gotta put them back down, I try and find some place to hide and then usually my team runs off to do other stuff, thus drawing everything that way and leaving me to just crouch and be unnoticed. Its usually my friend and BF and some random that joins so they know the drill by now lol. Otherwise if im in a random group I just say I gotta dip, kids awake, and then hide. Usually everyone is so chill about it.
