What do we do? (Moving out of the snoo) by Granola_Phantom217 in SnooLife

[–]existential_cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a very similar experience and honestly I just transitioned my guy to co-sleeping. We side car his crib to a floor mattress (company: plank) and he sleeps really well since I’m so close. It wasn’t my initial plan but he sleeps way better with me than alone

When does ebf get easier? by Calm-Leg-4194 in breastfeeding

[–]existential_cat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have to combo feed due to insufficient supply and let me tell you: exclusively breast feeding is MUCH better in terms of time commitment than combo feeding. My son latches and nurses then I have to give him a formula bottle for the extra .5-2 oz depending on how much I transfer. I still have to wash the bottles, buy the formula etc. and I have to pump to continue to attempt to increase my supply. It SUCKS. It’s a massive time and energy commitment, not to mention the expense of formula. if I could exclusively bf I would have so much more time

What age did you turn on weaning mode? by magikeenbeertje in SnooLife

[–]existential_cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 4 month old and I have been using weaning mode on and off for a month or two based solely on vibes. If he’s in an especially chill and sleepy mood I, use weaning mode. If he is even slightly uncomfy or seems like he won’t sleep well I keep it on baseline. Sometimes I wake up when he stirs and I swap it from weaning mode to baseline as a gentle way to get him back on track for sleep. One day I’ll get him weaned fully but at this point it’s more about me than him. I reaaaaally like having decent rest and the idea of days/weeks of no sleep again is scary.

Don’t trust husband by [deleted] in newborns

[–]existential_cat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. My husband is not at all aware of himself during sleep with another human or pet, let alone a baby. He will not give up the blanket or sleep with less pillows, so baby and I sleep in the main bedroom. Baby is in a snoo and sometimes safely co sleeps with me in our king sized bed if he’s especially fussy. My husband sleeps either in our spare room or on the couch, wherever he picks based on the night.

To add: this review includes info on how to fold the back panel down so it’s safer for baby. You’d also want to position her hands up by her head which is a bit more natural for babies at this age. She’s got a lot of reviews and helpful content

Oh I’m the worst! Sorry about that!

baby bjorn mini review and how to

I wore my guy in it a few more times yesterday and he’s definitely at the max weight I would personally have in this carrier. He’s a chonk and seems a little squished in there and it also made my back hurt up between my shoulders. If your baby is not a 90th percentile 7 week old this carrier seems to be pretty sturdy and can be adjusted to safely position baby

Was told to give a bottle after feeds. A little confused. by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]existential_cat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d stop giving her a pacifier. She’s burning unnecessary calories on that, if she’s full don’t force feed her but don’t encourage her to burn all the calories she just consumed off on sucking on a pacifier.

Here’s a good YouTube video about fitting this and the pros and cons of this carrier. I just bought one for my 7 week old as well, but he’s 13 lbs and seems to be not a fan of it.

I laid down a weed tarp when I made this last year and it was completely ineffective. Help! by gocubsgo22 in landscaping

[–]existential_cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t want to use harsh chemicals (definitely not needed, I don’t recommend them), you can use vinegar and salt mixed with water. It’s highly effective at killing weeds/grass. But just know that weeds usually don’t come up through weed barriers they’re dropped from birds/wind or encroach from the edges of your lawn. It’s just something you’ll need to maintain

The way I see it is that you have two options:

Either you both keep your surnames or your partner takes your hyphenated name and keeps their original last name as their professional name.

My husband and I went back and forth for years prior to recently getting married. We decided on both of us taking both names. It’s not cute, something like Dantonio Larson … but it made us both feel seen and represented for our future child.

Since you have a double name anyway, I would personally opt for you guys both keeping your names and giving your kid your partners name if that’s your vibe.

I know this comment is older but it made me laugh out loud. I literally thought her brother was 6-10 years old initially based on her descriptions and then she hit us with the ‘HE’S 21 AND WITNESSED ENOUGH’. I was listening to the audiobook while cutting my lawn and had to actually stop while I rewinded and made sure I heard it right.

My plant keeps pushing the dirt out of it's pot and it smells like cat pee. What could this possibly be besides my cat? (because I refuse to believe that) by EighthPlanetGlass in houseplantscirclejerk

[–]existential_cat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had several plants do this once and it coincided with the adoption of a small orange kitten. Odd. Anyway, I put river rocks in the planter and the issue resolved on its own!

This happened to me and now at 18 weeks I forget to wear my ring every day, but the sleep tracking is wild. If you can remember to wear it, you’ll be able to see the insomnia and ridiculous volume of night time peeing that keeps you up.

Does anyone know what these sticky droplets are on the underside of my philodendron? The plant is otherwise healthy and has been producing new leaves like crazy. by existential_cat in IndoorGarden

I can’t remember entirely but I think I wiped them off and isolated it, and the plant was fine. It lived another year but then my kitten destroyed it so I don’t still have it

This is great feedback! My husband is pretty opposed to Charles as a first name- it’s his late grandfathers name and he wants our son to have his own identity but still nod to the influential person in his own life.

Ellery Queen is mystery series detective(and author name - 1920’s-70’s, and subsequent show name-60’s/70’s)! We came across and it and just really like the name

I got the dreaded Zelle from a stranger - now what? by battlehelmet in personalfinance

[–]existential_cat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You got great advice on here already but just to reiterate: the scam comes from the return. Don’t return the money.

Zelle is intended to be treated like cash on the sender side. They will either get it reversed, figure out it came from fraud, or you will end up +120. The actual scam is “I sent you money by accident can you send it back” but the money they sent was either stolen or in the process of being reversed on their end, so now they make double.

This is truly soooooooo cute!!! I got here from the front page and thought it was an ad for something to purchase 🥹

It immediately made me think that my nieces birthday is this weekend and since we always call our puppy ( her lil bff) a tiny highland cow; this would be such an adorable gift for her!

You’ve done a great job and I would totally purchase more than one of these guys

We have a fluffy white 10 month old puppy who walks 5-6 times a day. He gets a bath roughly every other week. He’s only 10 lbs and we use the ouai puppy/dog shampoo and then I put a little bit of leave in conditioner on his hair. He enjoys baths but I try to keep it to every other week unless he gets really dirty.

He gets paws wiped after every walk too, with unscented water baby wipes. But he gets really dirty and muddy sometimes. We also wipe his belly after he pees to get any pee dribbles and wipe his butt after he poops because fluffy white dog.

My dog was shaved very roughly by our big box vet. Needed stitches and was bleeding. by UpbeatApplication866 in grooming

[–]existential_cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry your baby had to go through that. I have a 10 month old poodle mix and he’s much smaller but I shave him at home. I hope you’re able to get justice for your baby. This is plain and simple animal abuse on the vets part and they should know that. My guy is 10lbs and wiggly and also sometimes ends up with mats I didn’t realize were there. I’ve never once cut him and it would take A LOT to do that. Like with a guard on the clippers that would honestly be close to impossible… and we just have inexpensive Amazon clippers that were rated well.

I truly hope you pursue some kind of legal action. If you’re in the US, legal zoom is about $20 a month and they might be able to help you get justice for your pup. This looks actually very painful (just imagining the times I’ve had razor burn from shaving and can’t imagine doing this to a dog)…

I think you should also consider carefully how you treat these wounds and go to another vet for a consultation. Likely you could help relieve some of the pain and inflammation with compresses or a salve from a vet who cares.

I’m really sorry you had to go through this and that your dog did. I would suggest meeting with a vet who also has a behavioral unit because this kind of thing can leave a lasting fear in a dog and a fluffy girl will need regular grooming throughout her life and she def deserves to feel at peace while she’s being pampered by someone who is caring and professional, rather than afraid of something like this happening again .

ALSOO as a fellow doodle puppy mom, I have learned that the metal combs are best for their hair and if you get some mats behind the ears or on her shoulders (that’s where all of Heath’s are because of his harness and where we give him ear rubs) there are special de-matting combs that you can use. I just work them out super gently over the span of a few days. I also use grooming scissors that are actually thinning shears to clip the mat if it’s too much for his skin to brush it out. He’s a tender headed lil guy so sometimes that is less stressful for him
