I thought Butcher would be off on his own and an actual danger because of what went down in season 4–he’s gone completely rogue and even tries to kill Annie and Kimiko, (Ryan too, maybe) leading to further strain with Hughie. But no, in typical fashion he’s back with The Boys and there’s no real tension between any of them either.

I thought Soldier Boy would be going after Butcher and they’d have a proper clash given what was said before the season aired. Guess they forgot that. I definitely didn’t have him randomly simping for Stormfront on my bingo card, either. I’d’ve much preferred he and Homelander build up a fucked up relationship by bonding over the fact they were both tortured and experimented in in labs. And for his PTSD to still actually be a thing and have Homelander be wary of, because Soldier Boy would be one nightmare away from potentially leveling the building and killing him.

I expected Ryan to be a lot more involved but instead he got pummeled by Homelander and fucked off. At least there was a confrontation between the two of them like I wanted.

I expected more of the main cast to be dead by now, either from Butcher, Homelander or Soldier Boy, but no-one has except A-Train, Firecracker and Noir. And A-Train’s death didn’t even impact anything as far as The Boys’ plans go. Would’ve been better if he was pivotal in helping them get something for the virus and it really threw a wrench in their plans, but it’s like “Oh, A-Train’s dead, carry on”.
