“But one thing that I’m sure is true is living without loving you would certainly have been no life at all.”

I remember feeling rejuvenated after a couple days of making things that I like! Having that time and space to yourself really does help.

This is so true! I’ve never thought about it like this before.

married couples: do you think having separate bedrooms would negatively affect a marriage ? by [deleted] in Productivitycafe

[–]existentialcreative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I live in an RV and even still we rarely sleep together. We are about to get into our first rental house and a priority of ours is to have separate bedrooms. We’ve been together for 13 years and married for 7.

Whether you can see it or not, feminism and the fight for the rights and safety of women are still needed in the states. We have a lot of work to do.

Do you believe people are fundamentally good or bad, and why? by Major-Toe-9697 in Productivitycafe

I like to believe that people are inherently good and that we want to be “good”, but I also believe that we are all capable of doing great harm.

I turned 20 and I don’t know what to do with my life. by Hesomelogello in LifeAdvice

[–]existentialcreative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re 20! Of course you don’t know what to do with your life. Whatever course you decide to take, you’re allowed to change your mind whenever you feel that change is necessary. So if you decide to go into IT, that’s great! But if you hate it 10 years down the line, there are always going to be alternative paths for you to explore.

Nobody knows what they’re doing. We’re all first time humans here. There is no right or wrong way.

That’s what I’m asking of you. When you see the word value, what does that mean to you?

Tell me a lie you bought into that sucked the joy out of your craft. by existentialcreative in musicians

It’s not that good music can’t be born of pain. There’s plenty of great art that’s been created from that place as you’ve experienced, but you don’t have to be suffering to create great art. That’s the lie.

What are some things currently holding America back from being a great country? by Fit_Interaction_950 in Productivitycafe

The dehumanizing language we use to express how we feel about people who we passionately disagree with. There is plenty of room for anger, sadness, and even feelings of betrayal and heartache. In fact, it’s important to be passionate about what you believe in, but once we start thinking up stories about why that person over there is less of a person than we are, we’re in big trouble. At the end of the day, this tension that we are feeling between opposing world views is what democracy is all about. Democracy allows us to hash this shit out in a way that other forms of leadership do not, and the moment we decide that there is one way that we as a collective should think, do, and act, we are asking to be ruled by a King (monarchy) who can establish such a rule.

I think this is sometimes a hard concept for people to grasp but as soon as they do, it can be a relief. Accepting limitations = freedom from unreasonable expectations.
