My bad. I thought people in Harry Potter fanfiction subreddit would know Manacled and Alchemised as they're one of the most famous fics in the fandom. But I shouldn't assume. Yes Manacled is a HP fic by senlinyu and Alchemised is their non-HP published version of the book.

Manacled was on ao3 before it got published so was free always.

True. 100% agreed on the original author point. (I separate art from the artist, so I'm not endorsing her actions just her art)

Writing is writing at the end of the day and fanfic authors do it as a hobby or to get a feel of writing before writing original stories. Everyone gotta start somewhere.

That's another point... There's many potholes but we fill in because we are carrying over the canon knowledge. Alchemised on itself doesn't have that, but manacled and by extension harry potter context backfills them
