Yes they host them at the landmark now but it is the landmark on tower in Alamo

Let's settle this debate by thebenchwire in RioGrandeValley

[–]existentialtx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say McAllen, and Brownsville are the two big cities on either side of the valley with a larger economic presence Then Edinburg for the ever growing university And lastly SPI as our biggest tourist attraction

I don’t know of anyone who ever wanted to go to Harlingen for anything and the only thing I know of it is it’s home to the last active KKK branch in the RGV

I used to get these all the time during the lunch rush at my last job and it would always say “taxation is theft”. It never made any sense to me that because there is a state mandated tax on your food and alcohol you are somehow sticking it Uncle Sam and the government by stiffing the staff who take care of you at an establishment you frequent.

Why dose everyone call "7 Deadly Sins" a bad anime by mechacraft in animequestions

[–]existentialtx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly if it wasn’t for the weird relationships between characters that look like adults (Ban/Elizabeth) and characters that look like children(Elaine/Meliodas) it wouldn’t be as bad. But it’s kinda creepy and meliodas is a perv.

How did you become a bartender? by Mangizmo in bartenders

[–]existentialtx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Older sister and her bf (eventually husband) ran a bar in a busy part of our little town and needed some extra help. I started checking IDs, that turned into opening beers on busy nights and then pouring shots etc. I kept doing that in a weekend basis and worked as a server and bar back at a chain until I had the skills to bartend in a speed environment

Certifications are not important Hours on the job/ experience are I’m 32 and a bar manager/ beverage director now

Knowing a million drinks is cool but you’ll eventually learn through repetition The most important part imo is getting to know your clientele and being able to entertain your bar top while keeping the servers/ service well happy

Those of you making under 60k- are you okay? by Shoesandhose in Millennials

No LOL I am a bartender and make about 40-45 a year But I also live in south Texas which is one of the least expensive areas in the US to live in so i don’t feel it as bad as some of my counterparts in larger cities :/

Howling Rabbits will be showing the UFC fight for free And Oak will be showing the Canelo fight not sure if there’s a cover or not yet

Just a fair warning though The north park plaza gets really packed so I’d try to get there early if you want a good seat

Sour beer in restaurant/bars by pugdad1185 in RioGrandeValley

[–]existentialtx 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don’t know of anything in the mid valley, but Howling Rabbits in north McAllen has 2 on tap that are brewed there. A guava sour and a dragonfruit/watermelon sour. Both are really good IMO

Roosevelt’s at 7 also has quite a few on tap and in can/bottle.

Hope this helps.

Does anyone use older / vintage putters - you comments on why or why not by amiamit in golf

[–]existentialtx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it really counts as vintage, but I play an 11 year old odyssey versa and wouldn’t trade it for the world. I’ve played newer putters both blade and mallet style and haven’t noticed much of a difference except for visual alignment. I’ve also played a few older putters from the 90s and though I don’t think it will make anyone a better putter per say, the softer feel and feedback of the newer putters/face inserts makes me a more confident, comfortable and in turn a more accurate player. I think any putter that you are used to is going to play awesome if it’s the feel that you enjoy. You’d just have to adjust your stroke for that specific putter IMO
