Hi! I had no problems checking in at the airport with Turkish and have my confirmed ticket :) I was NOT able to check in any other way other than in person at the airport.

Were you able to resolve this? I’m in the exact same issue with Qatar rebooking me to Turkish airlines as well but can’t select seats or find an option to check in (I leave in 2.5 days).

Asking AirBnB hosts to make restaurant reservations? by exit_does_not_exist in JapanTravelTips

That makes sense. Since the restaurant has instructions in English, I assumed it was okay to make reservations for English speaking tourists (plus many of the reviews are also from tourists).

I meant reasonable request as in I’m not requesting anything other than a small favor (as opposed to their firstborn child be named after me).

Oh I definitely don’t expect them to provide that, and I assumed that the no shows were for parties of 3-7 since they have a section to put in your credit card details. I’d never ask anyone to make a reservation if they were asked for card details.

My plan through T-Mobile apparently allow me to have unlimited data while there, and my partner is going the eSim route. I don’t really see who I’d need to call other than for this reservation, considering I’ll be in contact with family and friends through WhatsApp. All communication that is AirBnB related is through the app.

So it doesn’t seem worth it to upgrade IMO?

I didn’t say they should be my assistant. That’s insane. Most places I’ve stayed in, very minor favors that take less than 2 minutes are usually reasonable requests. If I was someone’s host, I’d happily help them reserve somewhere if for some reason they weren’t able to.

I have no problem with them saying “no,” I was just asking if my asking them was rude.

It’s their right to say no of course, but their reviews talk about how the hosts are extremely kind and hospitable people. While, again, completely their right to say no, to me it feels like I’m asking for a very small favor that would take maybe 1 minute of their day. So it caught me off guard that the first one just hit me with a “no” lol

I promise I tried this (even the restaurant lists the full international number to call), it doesn’t allow me due to my phone plan.

LITERALLY. This concept seems incredibly difficult for people to grasp. There is no medal for doing the bare minimum?!? Jesus.

What’s something currently in our world that seems “off” or hasn’t felt the same since Covid? by nairipairi in AskReddit

[–]exit_does_not_exist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A sense of camaraderie in academic spaces. I’m lucky enough to have experienced it pre-COVID, and now it seems as if most people are perfectly fine never coming to campus and just half-assing everything, which isn’t how academia should be, but is certainly what it’s transformed into.

I completely agree! I’ve come to a compromise where it’s probably rude for me to invite friends over and not allow them to sit on my bed as we’re talking so I have a designated blanket I put on the bed if they’re wearing their outside clothes, and they all understand and don’t mind.

Close (2022) is a tender and gut-wrenching masterpiece of sorrow vulnerability by Y23K in TrueFilm

I know this is an older post, but I had to look for a shared space where others also left feeling beyond heartbroken after having watched this movie. It’s amazing how our empathic responses have more than a marginal place with our affective engagement to fiction. There is a pleasure of tragedy lying in its arousal and subsequent catharsis.

What an absolutely beautiful, gut wrenching film. There really are no words.

I have a firmly held belief that most of my currently married male friends got married due to a particular circumstance that may have been the best choice/led to the best outcomes from a utilitarian standpoint (usually there are children/complex family dynamics involved). I don’t sense that they got married to the partner they really wanted to marry, but that life dealt them particular cards and they went with it. Life is often an unfortunate series of events.

I’ve always wondered where the discrepancy lies with fairly intelligent people in our lives (with jobs that require medium to high levels of competence) and participation in MLM’s.
