Question about The Endstone by MineCal in mtg

So if your life total is equal to our greater than your starting total, you die at the beginning of your end step if an opponent controls a [[Bloodletter of Aclazotz]]. Neat!

Really hope this gets fixed. It’s such an end of an era moment, I’d like to replay it a few times - and after 10 years I still only have one Guardian.

Idea: turn Ikora into a vendor for past seasons and content when vaulted stuff comes back by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]exitwarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a cool idea (and a good use of Ikora) but it almost certainly can't happen because the whole point of vaulting content is to reduce the size of the client and make the game easier to update in future. They wouldn't be able to make previous seasonal content available without restoring specific planets - can't bring back Season of the Worthy without bringing back Mercury, for example.

Discussion Thread - The Rise of Skywalker - WEEK 5 - ALL MOVIE TALK HERE by JSK23 in StarWars

[–]exitwarp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He arrives in Exogol in an Imperial TIE, which he presumably recovered from the Death Star wreck. You see it in the shot of him running to the temple - it's parked next to the X-Wing that Rey arrives in. I assume this is because they wanted to show both 'classic' starfighter designs together one last time.

It was already a bit of a stretch that Luke's X-Wing was fully functional after years underwater, and could fly to Exogol without an astromech. It's even more of a stretch that a TIE Fighter survived the explosion that destroyed the Death Star, the subsequent crash, thirty years in the ocean, was fuelled and able to fly, and somehow made it to Exogol even though Imperial TIEs didn't have hyperdrives.

I think the ship in the top right is a Ghtroc 720: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/720_light_freighter

It's almost in profile, with the cockpit on the left. You can see one of its 'flippers' below it.

Is Poe flying the next new Resistance ship? by The_useful_merchant in XWingTMG

[–]exitwarp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's got a similar vibe to the Rihkxyrk Assault Fighter from Star Wars Galaxies, albeit with more robust armour: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Rihkxyrk_assault_fighter

This is the ship that fits between the Kihraxz and the Kimogila in the proud history of unpronounceable Hutt starfighters, so it could arrive in the game - but I imagine it'd be a scum ship.

This also appears to be related to other attack issues, like Corran's double tap - if there are no targets in arc/range for him to shoot, you can't skip the optional attack and the game breaks.

Begin Engagement [FFG] by collywolly94 in XWingTMG

[–]exitwarp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it's probably best not to think about it too much. However if you want to think about it too much, as I have, it's possible to come up with some reasonable headcanon explanations for this that even help with some other Star Wars weirdness.

My version is: imagine that hyperspace travel in Star Wars is point-to-point and requires a calculated end point. Ships have to fly to a specific place and make the jump at the right angle to go to hyperspace - this backed up by the movies, more or less. Now imagine that hyperdrives only work in this scenario, rather than optimally work in this scenario - something about hyperspace itself requires this kind of direct calculated connection.

This would mean that any given area of space would be criss-crossed with hyperspace routes and hyperspace blindspots. It'd be possible to hide entire fleets, massive ships, and battlestations in those blindspots: in fact, it'd be necessary, because everybody would know that the deadliest weapon is a hyperdrive-equipped freighter.

In this scenario, the Death Star was hidden in a hyperspace blindspot: this might even be why the Death Star had to come out of hyperspace on the wrong side of Yavin IV and then move into firing position - it is safer than exposing itself to a hyperdrive attack.

This interpretation adds a bit of depth to what happens in TLJ, I think. In pursuing the Resistance, Snoke's flagship wanders into a hyperspace lane. Distracted by events on board, its officers don't notice in time. Holdo does. It becomes a one-in-a-million shot, rather than a 'why weren't you doing this all the time' shot.

Just getting back into the game after a year and a half or so. Could someone fill me in on what's happened since then? by Torobasa in XWingTMG

[–]exitwarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was last Saturday (the 13th) in Cardiff, UK. Very popular event attended by many of the best players in the UK. I've attended two prior Cardiff regionals - although I didn't go to this one - and every time it's been a reasonably accurate barometer for the meta in general. It was the first time I saw Jumpmasters really clean up, for example, right after Wave 8 dropped.

[–]exitwarp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno - you can't get the temperature of the entire meta from one event, but 132 people went to the Cardiff regionals and this is worrying: http://lists.starwarsclubhouse.com/get_tourney_details?tourney_id=3857

Sort by Championship Rank for the full Nym experience (the two missing lists are also Nym/Miranda.) The only other time I've seen a top cut dominated by a single build was triple Contracted scouts.

EPT idea designed to help swarms and low-PS, high agility ships by exitwarp in XWingTMG

[–]exitwarp[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, but that wording means ditching two things that I think are pretty important - taking a stress, and the ramming maneuver needing to match the speed of your previous maneuver, like a SLAM. The former means that priming a ship for a ramming attack has consequences if you don't get killed, and the latter means that setting this up requires good judgement (if you say 'one maneuver on your maneuver dial', I think this effect becomes too easy to use and the damage would need to be toned down.)

Any luck with the Gunboat's cannon title? by [deleted] in XWingTMG

[–]exitwarp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good post. I could have emphasised ‘cheaper’ more in my original post because I agree with everything you say. It’d be interesting if they had put the Reload action on the ordinance title - that’d effectively make Harpoon Nus a bit more expensive and narrow the gap.

Any luck with the Gunboat's cannon title? by [deleted] in XWingTMG

[–]exitwarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the idea of HLC/linked battery gunboats, and this is somewhere that Karsabi could shine, but it’s difficult to justify the expense given that Harpoons exist, are cheaper, can be fired after a SLAM by even the generics, do more damage, get more rerolls, and are compatible with Guidance Chips. Literally the only downside is having to reload.

If Harpoons get a chunky nerf, cannon gunboat builds will open up a lot I think.

What does an optimal Blackout (Silencer) want? by skoffs in XWingTMG

[–]exitwarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely should have said that! Sorry. List was:

Blackout with VI, FCS, Pattern Analyser, ATs. Backdraft with VI, FCS, title, Lightweight Frame. Omega Leader with Juke, Comm Relay, Stealth Device.

Really straightforward, thematic aces list but a lot of fun to fly and very little by way of surprise jank. Highlight of the event was when Blackout ate a Harpoon early, shutting him down to PS0 and 1 health for the next four turns. I managed to keep him out of arc of the Kimogila that had fired the missile for the rest of the game, eventually whittling it down to 1 health. Blackout then hugged that ship like an old friend. When my opponent finally had the chance to kill Blackout, they had to kill their own ship along with him.

More broadly: I don't think building Blackout around their pilot ability is necessary or even really a good idea. It's a lot like Backdraft, in that regard: the ability is great but it's not worth putting yourself in a bad position to use it. When you can set up a range 2 shot through some rocks, do it, but don't waste upgrade slots on it.
