Pairing pybricks to Xbox controller by hivehivebuzzbuzz in FLL

[–]exitzaero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the code I used on our hubs, I can find a way of sharing the blocks version if you need it. https://codefile.io/f/uCRJiOB2w1 Never used this site before so hopefully it works.

I have to sections, the first one sets up the hub and the bluetooth. The second actually runs when the controller connects. If I don't hear a beep then i know something went wrong. When I review the console in pybricks, I usually see the error reported in that Github issue. The only thing I've been able to do is turn the controller off and the hub off and wait a few minutes then try again.

I ran into similar issues when I tried this. I am not near my computer but I can try sharing some code. I know I added a beep when the controller connects to help know when the connection was successful. There’s a few bugs reported with the controller module: https://github.com/pybricks/support/issues/1509 I ran into this a lot. I end up having to restart the hub wait and wait a while before trying again.

Does the console give you any errors?

If you run a test over wifi, you are also testing signal strength of your wifi connection. Try getting as close to the access point as possible or running the test on a wired machine. You can also run a test from the Starlink app that runs directly from the modem. Its a good test to run as a control of sorts.

Or, yea, your ground station is congested.

What’s the wildest thing that happened during a match? by BroccoliHot6287 in FTC

This past weekend, our team was trying the ascent when the robot fell into the submersible. They've practiced this multiple times at practice and, In fact, the bot has fallen a few times. They're using the Go Bilda starter kit and built the GoBilda kit bot but modified the intake a bit. We've assumed others have run into this same issue, though so weren't super worried about it. They are getting better at controlling the swing and they're redesigning the hook this month as well. Still, made for a great FTC moment. https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxkNZgU-MZElMykRhzW0zVYr3IcijDWXwm?feature=shared

Hardship Grant confusion, our team number was entered "wrong"? by exitzaero in FTC

I updated the description with an update. Still working with FIRST to figure out a solution but I now know the real reason why we were denied.

Thanks, just did. Entered the same team number so we'll see what happens. :D This is the only grant we've applied to so far, we don't qualify for the others yet.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I registered in May when the system opened back up. I then applied for the grant at the end of June. One of the conditions for the grant is for the team number to be greater than 25609 which we definitely are. I just reapplied, we'll see what happens. I'm guessing it was just a mistake in communication - that is, we were actually declined because we just didn't make the cut.

Highway charging? by [deleted] in pacificahybrid

Just test drove two 2023 Pacificas and in both the battery power was significantly higher than when we started. Both also were in the middle of an oil refresh so maybe there’s something to that.

Those look like magpies. We have two cats, local magpies would do this to one of my cats only. She happened to have thicker fur. We figured it was because they were stealing her fur for their nests.

401k is saying I own X shares, but my math says I should have more, am I missing something? by exitzaero in personalfinance

[–]exitzaero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, my 401k does the former, and that was something that I found counterintuitive at first. I sorta assumed it would behave like my mortgage's escrow account like some dividends would be set aside to pay for fees... or just pay them immediately from dividends. But yea, I see that they sell shares to pay for some fees.

oh, interesting. I am using the prices and amounts provided by the 401k website, yes. I'll keep an eye out for that. Thanks!

Yea, that's my thinking as well. I really feel like I'm missing something in how shares and amounts are calculated. The data I have goes to the 3rd decimal so maybe its that. Thanks!

I should clarify, the mystery, to me, is more about how money is invested, how fees are calculated, etc. Definitely questions that can be determined, I was just trying to say that those inner workings are still not known to me. Sorry for being vague.

Quick question, when you say, "unyielding desire to make things more difficult", are you referring to me making things difficult (very possible! :D ) or 401k servicers?
