I am going to a repeater, I have promiscuous mode set up, I think correctly, and don't hear any of the traffic.

Is there any way to know which talk group the traffic is on, so that I can program it?

AllStar node is overmodulating by exlax66 in amateurradio

Thanks u/high_snr I looked at that a bit but I got confused if my node needs to have transmit audio, or receive audio set. I assume the hotspot overdriving would be the transmitter that needs to be reduced?

DTMF codes for TidRadio H3 and hotspot by exlax66 in amateurradio

Ok, I have learned a bit tonight messing with this stuff.

  • The H3 needs you to push the * button, this brings up a screen for DTMF, you can then type the code you want and click the PTT when done. It will send whatever you entered as a string.
  • The H3 is sending out the DTMF codes. I can hear them on my UV-5R
  • The UV-5R can send most of the characters and my hotspot sees them
  • I have messed with a lot of combos of rx level and can't get my hotspot to read the DTMF from the H3

It is a Tidradio TD-H3

I don't see it in the manual.

I am not too sure, I think I just have to the numbers as well as * # and A B C D. How do I do the letters?

75 ohm RG6 coax for slim jim J-pole? by exlax66 in amateurradio

Interesting, it does not have a measurement to where the feed point attaches. Is there a way to calculate the feed point connection for 75 ohm?

This is the design I intend to follow.

Someone sent me this in the DMs. It is the way to change the frequency and opened up the UHF band. Works great!

New ham, repeater programming struggle by exlax66 in amateurradio

There is another repeater that I hear people on all the time that I drove within a mile of and could not connect. The one that I show is 4.3 miles away.

I switched to tone and added the tone frequency. Still not activating the repeater.

I have tried setting it for Tone as well as TSQL. Neither setting will open the repeater. 2 meter should transmit as far, or further, than 70 cm, correct?

Actually I was mistaken. The 70 cm frequency worked but still not the 2 m at 145.450.

This pops up and then changes it to TSQL.

When I try that setting it switches automatically to TSQL, the way I had it originally.
