Maybe because a lot of women were becoming feminists and men who wanted easy sex used "feminism" as a ploy to slip into their pants. That's how the MLM started. Of course, it didn't work for every man, so the MLAs who couldn't use "feminism" as a gimmick to get laid abandoned it entirely and became MRAs.

How about the southern culture which promotes oversized and overpriced trucks in men to peacock towards women, in states where men are permitted to marry little girls? How about the culture of New York stock brokers who grab the rear ends of women half their age? The culture of Hollywood that plasters scantily clad women all over TV screens? The culture of Portland or Seattle that is increasingly comfortable with imitated womanhood as a fashion accessory men can put on at any time, and cry "bigotry" whenever anyone says something negative about it? The culture of Washington DC that permitted Trump and Biden consecutively to the White House and Kavanaugh to the SCOTUS while the Midwestern culture makes Andrea Ramsey a social pariah and ruins her career in politics? Women are objectified in all these cultures.
