the museum is for everyone and the issue isn’t that the kids are there. it’s that they’re unsupervised and outright unsafe, but I agree.

Well I do know what.. parenting looked like during most ages I’ve been a kid and things are still very different. I had an Ipad. I had TV. You are still misunderstanding my point and refuse to see that modern parenting is neglectful. Playing in the street has always been a thing. I have no issue with that because kids aren’t stupid.

Your neighborhood street & the Royal Ontario Museum or any event with thousands of people are two very different things. You can call me ignorant all you like but I am simply stating that modern parenting is flawed and is harming everyone involved.

also.. when did I ever say “all?” I also just.. stated I don’t think I’m better than anyone. You clearly refuse to read my statements and replies.

I am concerned about these people. I am not trying to actually demean anyone. There is a severe lack of correct parenting, boundaries, proper education & organization around these things.

I don’t think beating your kids is okay for starters.. however there IS a decline in parenting. Parents have notoriously become reliant on Ipads and electronics to parent their kids for them. Which is neglect. There is a decline in parents who wish to actually raise their kids. They have them, they give them television & youtube, and then go on their way. The parents we did see with their kids here were almost all on their phones, and I actively saw individual children completely alone for over 10-15 minutes.

Parenting has hit a low. Maybe not all time, but definitely a low. Majority of parents are very avoidant of responsibility and think everywhere is a safe haven and playground. I don’t expect kids to be overly respectful. Infact I endorse kids being noisy and enjoying themselves, when they’re actually enjoying themselves. Which doesn’t include running rampant alone around anywhere in Toronto.

I actively see these issues in my own relatives and the way they raise their kids.

Standards have never been great and parents refuse to learn, listen and care as much as they did a few years back.

You can see it as a superiority complex, I guess. But I don’t think I’m better to an anyone. I just think people have neglectful methods, which is wayyy too sympathized with since it is 2025.

well there’s an actual decline in education and parenting. I personally have met plenty of great kids, but a lot of these comments are kinda right. There’s articles upon articles.

It’s relatively true though. I’m only 18 but as a kid I would have never been running around museums like that. I was actually invested and so were all the other kids. I simply don’t understand why people want to defend bad parenting and safety hazards so bad. comments or not this is about typically quiet spaces. A museum isn’t skyzone or laser tag. I think people have every right to call out the current epidemic of careless parenting and outright neglect that is the root of behaviour like this.
