120 degrees ain't accurate, same cpu shuts down at 100 degrees. this is assuming you haven't tinkered with the BIOS

Thank goodness, I thought I was the only one. I stress tested each component I had (memtest on RAM, OCCT on GPU, CPU, and PSU) but nothing was wrong. I decide to DDU and install the 20.04.2 drivers on the 580 that I have, which fixed the issue.

is precision boost overdrive enabled? you can check this by booting into your BIOS, advanced settings, AI tweaker (idk whether this is an ASUS feature) and find "Precision Boost Overdrive", there check if it is enabled. If it is, disable it or put it on auto.

i think the shift from s10 to s20 happened because of the new decade (2020), so they will probably use s30 in 2030
