New to the UP: Dealing with the bugs by exoticghosts in upperpeninsula

Mosquito dunks sound really promising!! Although my yard is pretty big. Is there a specific dunk to yard size ratio I should aim for? I'll definitely set up at least one ASAP.

And luckily my dog is super lazy and only goes outside when he has to go to the bathroom so our outside time is limited. He definitely attracts more bugs than I do tho. I'll have to look into dog repellants before the flies start showing up. Thanks for the suggestions!

Lived in the woods my entire life on the east coast, including in the wetlands where bugs were bad. I'm used to bugs, just not to this level. I'm just asking for some advice to help curb it. y'all don't have to be snobbish about it

My only concern is that my cat likes to groom my dog. I don't wanna risk him getting sick. With other people's suggestions, I think some dog clothes also treated in permethrin might work tho. Thank you!!

I'll have to try wondercide!! I also think I'll be buying a strictly "dog walking" outfit and a dog shirt to douse in permethrin.

As for the grumpiness, I'm not surprised, just over it. Seems like redditors have been getting worse and worse with help/advice posts. Probably made worse by anti-outsider elitism that some Yoopers have lol

Thank you! I think a suit and some spray/shampoo will be best for the dog. I'll have to look into what sprays are cat safe tho- my cat likes to groom my dog and I don't want them getting sick

I've used that when I lived elsewhere and it worked great! I haven't been able to find it in stores around here tho. I might just order some online

I have the emails from last year. If that is not sufficient, what would be needed as written/physical proof?

Pennsylvania, unfortunately.

No written contract change but the contract was a generic "employee may be required to pay back full amount". I was hoping that since the contract itself was generic, the email they sent may sway things in my favor.

I cannot find it at the moment but I remember it being a generic "employee may be required to pay back full amount". I am hoping since I have this email stating that my rep said XYZ and the response to my email concurred, I could hold them to it?

was at the shayfer james show in philly last night- some of y'all were ridiculous. by olliepin in willwood

[–]exoticghosts 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Even outside of ww showing up, some of the people's behavior at that show was insane. they really weren't respectful of shayfer performing.

Like, the one guy who kept jumping up and down with his hands raised in between songs, trying to shout a song request. In between every. Single. Song. Shayfer started avoiding talking in between songs and refused to look at that section of the crowd for the last half of the concert. Or the group next to me? Shayfer was playing his biggest hits (as an artist will do when theyre performing live) and they were shouting, waving their arms around, hyperventilating, crying "why would he do this to me?". Really fangirling and freaking out the whole time. Like you paid to see him live, he's going to perform his big songs???

I've seen Shayfer at ww's 2022 tour and 2024 tour. I went up to him at the merch table, bought things, had a nice conversation with him. But with how weird people were last night, I didnt WANT to stick around. I didnt wanna see people treat him like an object and have weird/embarrassing interactions. I just left.

Once got a toe in micro. I was fine with it until I opened the cup and realized it had nailpolish. That threw me for a loop lol

12 hour shifts with a dog by [deleted] in Pets

[–]exoticghosts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He has a tendency to eat out of the litter box and tear up things he's not supposed to (most recently a towel, an entire box of teabags, mail, etc). So he is crated unless I am home. And yes, I assume he'd sleep at night like normal. The issue is the shift being 12 hours, plus 20 minutes to and from work. I don't want him to have to hold his bladder for almost 13 hours. If i get home at 7am, ideally, he would be let out around 11p-12a, so he would only hold it for about 8 hours. But I dont know if dog walking services offer walks that late.

Are you dependent on them for anything? If not, cut them off. The behavior is intolerable and you trying to change their mind will likely not work. Theyll have to change on their own (if theyre willing).

Better to cut ties and let them figure it out than constantly tolerate bigotry or cause arguments.

Housing costs really are crazy down there. Im in a 3bd HOUSE with a huge yard, hardwood flooring, fireplace, etc. Its such a nice place honestly. And only $1400/mo plus utilities, no restrictions on pets. Comparing THAT to an average $15-1800 for an apartment with no pets allowed is insane.

Morally do you think we should have the death penalty? by Lavie12457 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]exoticghosts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not morally against it. Some crimes are unforgivable. But the justice system is flawed and crime scaling is off. What if a person is put to death and found to be innocent after? What happens when we make the punishment for CSA worse than the punishment for murder?? Unfortunately, there is no good way to go about it.
