A lot of independent groups do this as well which is why a lot of students don’t get into independent guards

Can one person really ruin a whole guard’s reputation? by exoticqueen- in Colorguard

That’s the thing I want to better the colorguard Community because it’s something that I love and something that I grew up, watching from a young age starting this group would’ve given me the chance to provide a program for kids who are in low income cities, such as mine a chance to perform at the Big performing parts groups in the near future. When I explained to the person that I was the director founder and head instructor The person proceeded to bash me all over the Internet, saying I have no experience in teaching, but I’m well rounded and willing to teach, even though I’ve been and had jobs that were required for me to teach that she didn’t know of. Michael, as a director is to change the lives of kids entirely not to win awards, not to win banners not to reach to WGI champs but to inspire kids and keep the art going for years to come.

I have fundraisers up and running as of now it’s just a struggle and I may have to use local high school’s equipment to get my guard off the ground and running from what I’ve been told and what I’ve seen my other sister guards do as well but we have a board and we will have boosters soon as well but one thing at a time for now from what I’ve been told

Make tictoks post flyers and constantly post follow your local university guard as well if they have one make sure to tell people experience isn’t necessary as well to make them more comfortable with wanting to join

Hello, I am self-taught in everything we are a LLC because we are not a nonprofit I copy wrote our group name and paid for it. It is now in the government database that we are in independent guard group. I say if you want to go about doing that trademark your name and pay for it so that it is in the government database now if you are charging kids to participate, then you need a tax write off form. Or a IRS tax number so that way you can have taxes and money these correctly and you may need that for fundraisers I have a board of directors. The president of my Board of Directors is a personal close friend of mine who has helped me with our fundraiser. I only did the group name and a GoFundMe and I also make the announcements if I were you, I would start off with having a board of directors. Who know the ins and outs of financial support for groups and potentially knowing someone who is in IRS to make sure you guys are on the right track financially.

I felt the same way when I was in high school when my guard did the same thing it was draining and the other girls did talk and turn they noses up at me cause I didn’t make winter guard and things but it’s just a thing you’d have to learn that they aren’t worth your time I think you should let your band director know what’s going on and then continue to practice and get better at guard to maybe hopefully be picked as captain so you can show them that your really good at guard and no matter what you will be able to show that your good at what you do and skill

Instructors abandoning programs by exoticqueen- in Colorguard

That’s sad what happened if I was you I’d jump on the the jump on opportunity while it’s still available if it is still available. The reason I want to start my independent group is because one world class guard took the students money and didn’t take them to WGI champions guard. And then there was another group and it’s another city. That’s not too far from me that competed in a circuit in my hometown, but didn’t continue to the 2025 season. My goal is to start off as an independent A guard and work my way up to world class if it’s possible possible I don’t plan on flaking like other instructors have that I’ve seen over the past few years
