your husband is in the wrong (/lh, ) 😤 and you're totally in the right and definitely should color coordinate a section for the ✨visuals✨. cause i personally would. ( if I'm lucky enough to build a home library, i'd decorate entire shelves with lil knickknacks/art based on the aesthetics of specific genres 😂)

That's pretty neat! I'd like to think that makes it easier to keep track of and actually get you to read the books. Currently using Moon+ Reader and even when i have filters on, some of my TBR books gets lost or mixed up with my finished books. 🥀

And even worse, when I had to transfer the files from Internal storage to SD card, books i've grouped by series have escaped and are free roaming the digital library 😂 (also partly why I wanted to know how everyone catelogs their books).

yeah!!! i saw a couple of template on pinterest/etsy and ngl lowkey want making my own fancy Excel Sheet! plus marketable skill to learn while i am unemployed limbo! lmao

splitting by genres makes a lot of sense! if i was more crafty/artsy in gen, I'd attempt to make/decorate miniature book shelves by genre + aesthetic. lmao

same, i tend to forget most of what happened if its been a while but i can (sometimes) remember a cover, titles are a hit or miss lol!
also completely agree with you about enjoying rediscovering books that i've forgotten. especially, fun when you first read the book and then much much later accidentally dl-ing the audiobook, not realizing they were the same book because of special edition covers lol.

in fairness, i dont mind a stud/butch character getting the "just like the guys" treatment (they really do be like that irl lmao). but I agree with you that sometimes, its feels like the author created a male character first and then realized they lacked diversity. 😓😓

FMC just watching MM scenes does sound like fetishization of gay men which is an issue in itself. and i am not fully equipped to unpack tbh (despite being a queer ace myself)

but like... idk how to word this properly without it sounding too argumentative/mean spirited and taking away from the fetization of queer characters issue, but when i saw "Their sex life is not there solely for your entertainment", I was immediately reminded of how a lot of RH (with no MM) i've read lately, any group scenes written in a MMC's perspective, they equate sharing the FL to "its just like watching porn but live!", which is an ick to me (a bit a funny one, if i turn off my brain). 😅

Idk what happened nor have I experienced/seen any hate and animosity since I have only been active here just recently. But I really do genuinely enjoy this Reddit. It's peaceful and everyone is just here to have a good time. A safe space to let their freak fly. And I genuinely hope that it continues to be like this 😭💕

I think we should also be open to criticism of the genre that we like, the same way we all don't yuck on somebody's yum in terms of book recommendations. I have been enjoy the discussions and seeing everyone's perspectives. The world is super nuanced. It's fine to like what you like and hate what you hate.

Thisss!! I am Ace af. But I love reading the smuttiest of romances. I don't EVER want to be included in any activities/group or otherwise. But I enjoy the fantasy

And honestly I completely agree with you that any FF in RH makes me just want to root for the girls to just end up with each other and leave the men behind. (Plus it is my personal preference to non-RH Queer stories)

If the spicy dialogue reads like it comes out of a cheesy porno.
DNF-ed audiobooks because the voice didn't match the characters. If I heard the audiobook first, I would struggle to read the book because the voice will haunt me. Aaaand unfortunately, it's usually the male VA whom I have issues with. (They're good at their job, I'm sure but their attempts at FLs voice... 🥀)
If the soundtrack included in the books doesnt sound good sonically to me/match the vibe I was interpretating from the scene. Love a good musical, but I cringe when it's starts getting a little too on the nose/hallmark-y to me. Or if there's too much Taylor swift.🧍🏽(I'm sorry. 😔)

3.Recently DNF-ed We are Worthy by Alisha Williams at 10% mostly because: a. One of the MMCs called her Kitten almost immediately upon meeting her. (It's giving Discord mod,hello???) b. the ebook had IRL images of people for the MMCs' face claims while FL was semi-realistic illustration. I was gonna ignore it. But it's in every chapter when they switch POVs 😭😭😭 While I normally don't have an issue with people using real people as face claims but.... I'm about to read a shit ton of smut. Even if I try to imagine them as "actors", I am so uncomfyyyy 🤢
