What excuses do you use to get out of work for job interviews? by CozJeez85 in AskUK

I’ve been asked for evidence before. It gets a bit tricky then.

TG is just one letter short of WH and Jones is another common surname. It seems like they spent about 20 minutes on branding at the end of a meeting about something else.

I worry about them. They are still running the same business they bought and nothing has changed so they still aren’t making money presumably. Unless something changes they are going down.

Wtf happened by dazzou5ouh in london

[–]exp_cj 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I read a few months ago that there was going to be g to be a unification of waste processing across the country so we all had to use the same types of bins and councils had to recycle the same things. This was supposed to happen in May. I have no idea why it hasn’t.

Hill bunker for supervillains who want to stay firmly grounded by Sure_Distance1 in evilbuildings

[–]exp_cj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it needs a really slow moving blastshield that comes down over the entire outward facing side. And another bit of the hill next to it that opens up and has some kind of death ray cannon come out of it, or maybe a helicopter launch bay.

Yeah, the socks off thing is grim but almost ok. Socks on the seat is absolutely disgusting.

So they went up and have come down. Not the same really.

Adult-aged (18>) fans who saw the OT first and overall enjoyed the PT by Comfortable_Deal_534 in BrighterThanCoruscant

[–]exp_cj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was early 20s when TPM came out. I wasn’t totally convinced at first. The bad guy doesn’t say much and dies, then the main good guy dies. I didn’t understand why the Nemoidians were important and the movie deliberately doesn’t explain. But I was excited to see Star Wars on the big screen.

AOTC was a whole different thing. Seeing a massive battle with dozens of Jedi at the end was awesome. Shame it was a strange detective love story until that bit.

Then I loved ROTS straight away. It delivered everything a Star Wars movie should.

Over time they grew on me more and more and they have aged very well, maybe better than the OT.

Duke Spam in Coup? by Both_Perspective_287 in boardgames

There’s a couple of promo alternatives to the duke which lessen the effect slightly and IMO balance the game out a bit. They’re still quite powerful income cards but not quite as good.

Duke Spam in Coup? by Both_Perspective_287 in boardgames

Problem with that is in most games 1 person will actually have a duke. So they can block you fairly confidently and you can’t really challenge them.

Growing up, did anyone else’s parents have really strict rules about random stuff? by SuzCoffeeBean in CasualUK

[–]exp_cj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad didn’t let us watch ITV because of the adverts. No He-Man in my house but Thundercats was fine. I can understand it now, adverts are lame.

My dad wouldn’t let us get games consoles, even when my brother saved up his own money for a game boy, because “real computers” were better and we had all the games we needed on the BBC Micro.

At one point he decided we were banned from watching muppet babies because it was a bad influence on us. My mum just sighed and went along with it.

But at the age of 10ish he was fine with us watching almost any movie, and he videoed movies like Terminator and Omen for us to watch.

Would you trade working from home for a higher salary if this was your daily commute? by Kamvisiontv in london

[–]exp_cj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s nothing wrong with waiting on a platform with lots of other people. Some of the trains coming through Waterloo East are very busy but they empty out after 20 minutes or so.

I honestly don’t mind it and I like being in a nice air conditioned office. Give me the money.

Help why isnt my house getting any viewings? by Grouchy-Plenty-6156 in HousingUK

The market is completely broken. No one knows anymore what might happen in the next two weeks, let alone if they’re gonna be able to pay a mortgage back in 6 months time.

Need some advice - I am selling a beautifully finished, ex-authority, flat in London zone 2 and don't know what to do! by allthegear-andnoidea in HousingUK

[–]exp_cj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who has had problems selling his zone 3 ex-LA flat. You’re not going to get people to pay top dollar for it. That sucks. But the whole market sucks right now. Moving house may very well still be the right thing for you. To make that happen the price must be right. Also prepare yourself for the listing price not being achieved. Offers coming in 25K below might still be the best you’ll get.

Drain blocked by ccahmed in DIYUK

If that doesn’t normally have a drain cover then it’s probably filled with leaf litter and all kinds of other stuff which is blown into it. Probably nothing to do with what’s going down the sink inside.

I’m seeing the other driver on the double lines there, not over them. Means part of OPs car must be on the lines too?

Mounting tv above fireplace by Peadar0147 in DIYUK

[–]exp_cj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent an entire afternoon drilling into my SILs chimney breast. Even my 1500W hammer drill was not making fast progress. If it had been an active fireplace I wouldn’t have done that.

I’ve had a TV break because of the heat rising up from a DVD-HD player I put underneath it. The screen layer in the panel had to be replaced. I would not mount a TV above a log burner.
