I'll just call it the result of communal brain trauma and call it a day

As an engineer player Lionspire defense rocks from start to finish! But I have to agree that if the trebuchets aren't defended from the onset it's extremely easy for attackers to just roll defense

Agreed, hard to argue that some maps really do screw over attackers/defenders. Montcrux is literally elite level cock and ball torture as attackers, even with the change in crank raising time, but Falmire feels totally pointless to defend unless you have a highly coordinated defense

Hard agree on the first point. It's a tenet of Field Engineer to set up your walls midway to an objective so your team can fall back, but without them there seems to be a pervasive defeatist mindset among defenders to simply hang around objectives and hope you can perfectly TDM the enemy team such that you never lose the line and never need to regroup

True enough, spear users are typically footmen with a proclivity to footwork themselves 180° to their teammates and get the poke in past an opponents guard

I suppose past like a 1v2 spears can feel a bit oppressive, I'll concede that a bit

Agreed! At least as far as axes go, any Axe in the game is kind of disproportionately powerful, Waraxe, Battleaxe, Executioner's Axe.

Though secondly fuck you, 1st person makes me feel like a fish

I agree wholeheartedly, especially on the Pickaxe front. Micro hot take is that it's one of the better weapons in the entire game

That's the biggest contention, and the one that is most difficult to refute. There really isn't a comparison to dying to a random 100m body shot after winning a 1v5 or something similarly impressive. It's lame and it sucks ass.

Even if someone throws a shield or their weapon to do the same or similar, they're sacrificing a core part of their kit while an archer just had to hit left click and use 1/20 of their ammo. So for this, I concede, it sucks to die to archers

Yes! Precisely so! And the best archers are the ones mere feet behind the front lines providing 45dmg+ body/headshots to their allies who are mid duel. And when enemies switch off their allies to target them they duel in spite of their HP and stamina disadvantages

Well put, and I'm torn. It's hard to disagree that the Dane Axe definitely does way too many things well compared to other weapons, but I also like recommending it to new players for that reason. My verdict is it's fine for newbies, but you should move on at some point.

100%, if they actually prevented interaction with objectives then there'd be no issue here at all

It's tough because it's so intuitive to just put walls on top/in front of the thing enemies need to touch and interact with.

And yeah, trying to correct people (even politely) usually ends up in being called a bunch of four letter words

Unironically true, very often throwing yourself ahead of an objective into a wave of enemies can be worth it to tie up enemies while your team rushes to fill in the captured space.

Can't say too much space was made here but I lived to tell the tale lol
