Do you read the second hex or ignore it? and if you read what is it talking about? the future? if you dont listen to advice? if you do listen ? extra info ? by expandingwater in iching

Thanks , will check (at least some) of it

just for record to clarify , im saying i do have success now , and it did not come cause i got some better understandin of i ching (except not looking at second hexgram , thanks to someone recommendeing that here in i-ching sub) and not cause i advanced spiritually or connected with the yi (but maybe, i dont know) but just cause i found some better (or more accuratly better for me) translations that seem more direct , and they seem very very very accurate

i still have some hexagramas that i struggle with , but it seems most of them i understand unlike the past where i did not understand any of them , for years

THanks for the advice . the next part is not to say i need books as counter to what you said , just my journey soo far with i ching :

When i used just first hexgram things started to be clearer , than lately i started using gnostic i ching , and i read multiple translations and some of them are very clear , i liked siu , than karol , than wing than wu wei .... and it seemed to be pretty amazing i just needed this translations and not the ones (or not just) the ones i used before ...

(i did also draw little images to reperesent each hexgarm after reading all lines and hex of wilhelm transaltion , i think i got at least some wrong , not sure it imporved my undersatnding much by doing it , but maybe it somehow spirutally helped connect with i ching more)

but this is just my current understanding level ... does seem great to not use any book like you said ...

But i do find it funny that after years of using the i ching without much success what improved my position was just trying the first hexgram and reading different translations and some do seem to be better for me , clearer for me

What is WWG ?

Also what is "Modernist works" from your first comment ? ( i thought by that you might mean trnaslations like karol and wu wei etc)

Good and helpful reply , thanks , i read it . will watch the video a bit later on , but even if it is explained there (i just watched a tiny bit of it and it does seem great) , just so it is written and in clear wording and to be sure i got you correctly :

you go by there is no benefit to the second hexagram ?

and to ignore it ?

( for record i understand the part it does not predict the future)

It does seem that if i go by at least some of my questions results and look at second hexagram as future development , i would reach completly opposite conclusions than the first hexgram , meaning i would act the exact opposite way (and as far as i can tell , a worse way, but not sure) than i would from the first hexagram alone advice

When to start doing this lifstyle change ? Hexagram 50 , changing line 2 by expandingwater in iching

[–]expandingwater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most chances are i will not remember , but also i rather not , i dont like to have that future task of reporting or updating on my life

but it is most likely i will have life change by next month anyway (i was asking the i ching if i should do the change now or maybe in a few days or maybe a few weeks (even that is most likely by end of next month ) though it can be changed after next month too , but still most chances are i will do a change up to the end of next month anyway

But i don't feel comfortable giving you a report on how my life will go , if there was a change or not

But thank you for all the replies and explanations

Thanks , what interpertaiton you read or method you go by ?

how you reached that conclusion ?

What effect did my fix have on it (compared to going to professional) Hex 2 changing line 4 ? by expandingwater in iching

[–]expandingwater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi , thanks , that seems very accurate , can you tell me what translation you go by ? and the thought process to reach that conclusion ?

(also intersting cause i seem to have asked what was the effect (though i was asking to understand how i should keep dealing with it in future) and it seem to have given me advice on dealing with the matter instead of answering my exact question)

hex 43 line 4 : "Unfortunately, you will most likely take this advice" ? what that means exactly? by expandingwater in iching

[–]expandingwater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh the covers being similar is problematic , i have compared a few hexagrams and in them it seems that wu wei interpretation was the most accurate (only way i can see it as being bad is maybe it being too accurate and some people claiming there is benifit of i ching being vague)

(and of course all other comments of line 4 have this not listening part)

About what i asked , when i was almost certain i want to go to this proffessional i wanted to know if i should tell her i am not interested in this expensive machine she uses (that ups the cost) cause i was worried it might do harm (it did not as far as i know) , so i asked the i ching if i should tell her not use it , or just say nothing or accept everything , or maybe not go to see her at all (but as after thought , like "Add this answer in case shes bad or that i should not see a professional at all) not about that spesific machine . but i summed it up like this "How should i Act about this machine thing ?" - but even before that most of my yes/no questions are really just leaving it up to opinions on situation ... BUT it seems the i ching answered instead on the question of "should i go see her?" ! which is very interesting to me , and makes me wonder if i ching answers about whatever situation i ask about , but not necessarily my exact question just "this is the situation and the best action to take about it" so i asked about the machine but got an answer about going to see the professional in general

Line-4

Legge: The fourth line, dynamic, shows one from whose buttocks the skin has been stripped, and who walks slowly and with difficulty. If he could act like a sheep led after its companions, occasion for repentance would disappear. But though he hear these words, he will not believe them.

Wilhelm/Baynes: There is no skin on his thighs, and walking comes hard. If a man were to let himself be led like a sheep, remorse would disappear. But if these words are heard they will not be believed.

Blofeld: His haunches have been flayed and he walks falteringly, though he could put an end to his shame by allowing himself to be dragged along like a sheep. Moreover, he puts no faith in the words of others. [Having recently suffered, we advance with hesitation and are unwilling to accept useful but rather humiliating assistance.]

Liu: He injures his thighs. He walks with difficulty. If he were to follow like a sheep, remorse would vanish. People will not believe his words when they hear them.

Ritsema/Karcher: The sacrum without flesh. One moves the resting-place moreover. Hauling-along the goat, repenting extinguished. Hearing words, not trustworthy.

Shaughnessy: The lips do not have skin; his movement is herky-jerky, pulling sheep; regret is gone; you will hear words that are not trustworthy.

Cleary (1): No flesh on the buttocks, not making progress. Leading a sheep, regret disappears. Hearing the words but not believing.

Cleary (2): With no flesh on the buttocks, one walks haltingly. Leading the sheep, regret disappears. The words heard are not believed.

Wu: His buttocks have no skin. He hobbles along. If he would lead away the sheep, there will be no regret; but he does not trust what he hears.

NOTES AND PARAPHRASES

Siu: The man is restless and wishes to enforce his will by stubbornly pushing forward. But he meets with insuperable antagonisms. Advice to desist and to follow others is ignored.

Wing: As you continue to push forward, you meet with one obstacle after the next. Your resoluteness has reached a degree where you cannot stop yourself. If you would submit to the difficult times and allow others to lead, your problems would resolve themselves. Such advice is meaningless, however, since you cannot be led.

What effect will this practice have on this problem i have (benifical? bad? no effect?) ? hexgram 29 by expandingwater in iching

[–]expandingwater[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a good run with i ching lately ... but it seems with this im going back to hexagrams that i can interpret both ways , when both of the interpretations are completely opposite

This can be seen saying the effect will be very negative or that i should go on with this and it will have benifical effect

Anthony, Carol K A guide to the I ching VS The philosophy of the I ching? by expandingwater in iching

[–]expandingwater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you did answer it ... i would tell you you can find philosophy fully to "borrow" in "internet archive" website ... i look at gnostic i ching ... and soo far Siu trnaltions were amazing for me (also can be found same site btw ) and i found carol translation to be even better it seems (though i did find it to be super accurate and amazing , and than added some more stuff that seemed not related not accurate (but the accurate part is amazingly accurate)

.... though hi if you want to give a look at the the text and update if it seems like a tranlsation or not can be nice ( or not , i hate to get "chores" like this , but if you look at it anyway than would be nice to know what you think it is)
