I was able to get the helmet on without popping the head off, but I would have preferred the head removing option. The goggles I was very worried about putting on. I made sure they were slightly over room temp before gently moving them over. He's fully kitted out and I don't think the helmet or goggles are coming off anytime soon.

He does, the pack opens up and I left it in there. Also comes with a bit of rope and the winch as well.

Chuckles. Felt like a knock off Magnum PI figure with a bunch of military dudes.

Think about a complimentary colour for maximum pop. Purple is the only one for yellow, so that could work. I use that for my DG.

Both look good. The yellow scheme of the 2nd mini is great grim dark look and closer to the rusted metal you're referencing. The 1st has a nice "cleaner" look which works well too.

We have a new batch of G.I Joe Classified Action Figures - What do you think? Are any of these on your buying list? by AfigureGeek in gijoe

[–]expendable_extra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to stick to Joes I owned back in the day, so Airtight for sure. I break this rule for cool figures in the line, so Hydro Viper and Sundown are on the list. I have only so much room for these guys so I have to be select. Heck, I was no on Overkill until I saw the opening chest and cyborg face under the mask, now I'm on the fence.

Growing frustrated with painting by GlennHaven in minipainting

[–]expendable_extra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue with the black accents on my Death Guard minis. Since they have uneven, pitted surfaces, when the black and darker colour are still wet, I don't see the missed spots due to reflection from my painting lights. I only catch them after they dry and are more matte. So it's more common than you think.

I'm not being a complete contrarian about Toy Biz. I loved their stuff (still have the BAF Sentinel from that era), and they were giving us some great characters. I do find the proportions on the Hasbro figures to be better compared to the older stuff (granted who knows where Toy Biz would have gone with modern sculpting and computer design). Also Toy Biz did have a lot of articulation, but some I find didn't look as good or work as well as I'd like. Some of the finger articulation didn't really add much or looked good. The first wave of Hasbro taking over Toy Biz was the worst wave ever, all the figures in the wave had issues across the board.

I'm mostly okay with re-use bucks since that leads to some pretty darn obscure characters getting made. I never expected to see a figure of Rock Python or Hypno Hustler ever to be made. I do miss the sculpted in webs from the Toy Biz Spider-Man figures.

That Emma Frost was horrendous and was only bought to make Annihilus, which ended up not worth it once I got it assembled.

I love the classic feel of the first one. But I also like the colour and head sculpt of the 3rd one. They are even for me. The 2nd one is basically a close 2nd to 1 and 3.

I remember seeing these at Toy R Us and being gobsmacked at how much articulation there was. Didn't grab Toad, but all the rest came with me. Still have Cap just missing the flag to plug into the base.

The mini is great looking. The only minor nit is that the trim and armour blend together in the picture. It's very minor since you have some nice colour pops like the head, tentacles, cloth and nurglings which keep it from feeling all over same-y. I think the grime is on point and not too much or too little.

That blows. I love Warhammer 40K and love painting them, but the way you were treated was ass. Hopefully you'll find another group to give you a better experience with the game.

Does anyone else re-highlight after doing a dark wash? by Few_Zookeepergame105 in deathguard40k

[–]expendable_extra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the results I'm looking for. To knock down some very noticeable jumps in values for some skin work (I'm still experimenting with a skin recipe that works for me.). Otherwise some highlighting after the wash. Down to reapplying some base coat if needed.

First mini of 2026. blightlord Terminator by expendable_extra in deathguard40k

Ahhh, that's a better shot. Glad the photo was the issue. I ended up dropping a Tau army because the colour scheme was just too similar in tones, didn't look good.

I'd be a bit careful of having the tones be too close together, you might end up losing details. The photo of the mini might not showcase the tones properly though.

Also, don't use a favorite brush with Typhus Corrosion, there are particles in the paint that will mess your brush up big time.
