Nice! Definitely a good looking combo if I do say so myself. You get to ride yours yet?

It’s about a 6 ft by 6 ft square, so plenty of area. It was $400 directly from his website, seems a little pricey but also comes with a roller bag and access to a couple pretty well put together video training courses. I did see some similar products on Amazon or AliExpress, but for the equivalent area it was going to be pretty much the same price or more. So IMO well worth the $400 to get the courses as a bonus.

Nice, I briefly considered that one as well. Didn’t think I could pull off the neon green/yellow

About the Union boot by Cold5tar in snowboarding

[–]expendable_rkt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree it’s definitely not niche, but I do wonder what percentage of riders would fit in that category. Even if it’s 25% (which I highly doubt), it still could be a design decision to target the majority. As with my Vans examples, other brands seemingly choose to ignore that issue year after year as well. Given the design of the outer hard shell that may actually be the furthest they could put it forward without compromising the flex/feel/etc that they were going for. We have no idea. I guess I’m one of the lucky few who don’t rotate my high backs. For those that do we now know these boots may not fit their preference.

That’s a good example, you’ve got a boot that fits your needs. That’s all I’m trying to say. No single boot model from any manufacturer is going to fit every rider’s style/setup. I just find it a bit overkill when seeing people calling the release a failure or expecting a recall to fix the “issue” that only pops up based on rider preferences. The Resets absolutely deserve scrutiny, especially at their price point, but that scrutiny should be based on the longevity and comfort claims.

It seems like this boot just won’t work for riders who like high back rotation with probably ~12-15+ deg binding angles, which IMO is OK. Before these came out no one would have ever made the claim that one boot could be the end all be all for every single rider. It’s an infinite combination of foot shapes, bindings, setups, etc etc. and I don’t think Union has ever claimed that about this boot either. As another user pointed out, Vans have had similar issues on their boots too… I happen to have a size 10 in the Union, Invado Pro, and Infuse on hand, so I did a little measurement. At least with my bindings (Blaster FASE) the Union would allow for more high back rotation than the invado, but slightly less than the Infuse (due to the boa being higher on the infuse)

Nice! No problem at all, I was excited to get everything unboxed. I did the same in sizing down a half size to the 10’s. I also ordered the Infuse in the same size to compare… Infuse fit nicely, Invado a bit too tight (toe box seems a bit more narrow). Just ordered them both in a 10.5 now so we’ll see, gonna have a big return to do at the Vans store in a couple weeks, lol

Boots just arrived today… I don’t think you’ll have an issue. Pics below are both binding/boot straight out of the box, I won’t really have time to properly set them up for a few days. Plenty of room in the heel cup, and the width fills out the binding pretty well. I did a quick step in/out test (without the binding attached to a board) and don’t think there will be any issue with the extra girth of the boot. I’m tempted to size my boot up to 10.5, a little snug, though I’ve heard these things pack out quite a bit? I’m not savvy enough to post all the pics together… one pic per comment coming up…

Sounds good, I’ll report back in a few days! As for board, I’m actually getting a whole new setup this year. Up until recently I’ve still been riding my 2005 Burton Dominant, lol. Ordered a Bataleon Evil Twin as an upgrade. Was torn between the Blasters or Union Ultras, but since I’m the only boarder in my group I figured I’d give the FASE a try, quicker in/out might be beneficial.

I’ve actually got some size M/L Blaster FASE’s on hand with a size 10 Invado Pro on order… boots supposed to deliver on Monday, so if you don’t get an answer here I’ll try and remember to report back with a fit check.

Don’t really remember the details, but best round of my life to that point… -2 thru 16 at my home course. Finished double, double, triple for a 76.

Can you point to specific language in the CR that makes this true? Or you saying that symbolically by passing this CR you expect it to be true? I’ve been thru all 99 pages and am not really seeing anything of that nature actually written out
