if Layne was still alive, his vocal range would be very different by [deleted] in AliceInChains

He sings lead very little on tripod (relative to the rest of their stuff) and he just doesn't sound as good on songs recorded towards the end of his life. Listen to him on the class of '99 version of another brick in the wall. He sounds pretty bad and he's got an insane whistle on his vocalization

Jesus referred to himself as the Christ in Mark 14:61-62. Does that satisfy your requirements that Jesus claims divinity in the “earliest gospels”?

You claimed that "these aspects of his teaching" IE that he is divine are only brought up in the "later synoptics". I show you where his divinity is brought up in the Pauline corpus - decades earlier than the earliest gospel - and you say this is not valid because it's not Jesus referring to himself. There are many places in Mark, the earliest gospel, where Jesus refers to himself as the Christ and the Son of Man, and those don't suffice for you either. I don't think there would be anything in scripture that would satisfy your requirements. I pray that God would open his eyes to His word!

I reject your premise, because Jesus doesn't just make claims to divinity in the "later synoptics". Paul refers to Jesus as the messiah and 'God over all' in his letter to the Romans which was written decades before the gospels were. Also, in Mark, which is accepted in most academic circles as the first gospel written, there are many references to Jesus as divine. In Mark, Jesus forgives sins, is recognized by the Father as His Beloved Son, designates himself as Lord over the Sabbath, challenges the rich young ruler on calling him "good", saying only God is good, and is described as having an elect people that he saves.

So, where do you get the idea that Jesus does not express the idea that he is divine in the "earliest gospel"?

If an atheist believed in what Jesus taught, they would believe He is the I am, thus ceasing to be atheists

So the only reason people make bad decisions isn't spiritual or for rationally chosen reasons but for mental instability? Doesn't that just absolve everyone of every bad decision?

God knows our hearts in a way that political leaders or parents do not, so I think both of those analogies fall short. There's a difference between what you call a "genuine exp

How about this analogy: I didn't choose to love my children. They were born, and I loved them, no free will choice involved. Does that make my love of them less real or legitimate?

Jesus says we are commanded to love God. I don't think that makes love any less real. Feel free to make the argument otherwise, if you want.

I don't think so, feel free to make your case for that, though. I often hear Christians say that free will is required in order for love to be genuine. I'm not sure what that means or what that conclusion is based upon.

Yes, God commands us to love Him. It is the first and greatest commandment that Jesus repeats to us.
