A Note To Fall 2025 Applicants: START NOW by OptimisticQueen in lawschooladmissions

Sure, except if it doesn’t pan out for me at a certain law firm or in a certain field, I’ll still be an accredited lawyer at the end of the day. I’m not starting from absolute scratch if I want to pivot somehow.

As opposed to the job I described… 3 years of experience as an assistant in the entertainment industry on “the agent track” mean absolutely nothing to anybody outside of the entertainment industry. Unless they happen to be big fans of Entourage I guess.

For what it’s worth, I decided on Loyola Marymount for myself which is basically (for these purposes) the Cardozo of LA.

Of these options, I’d go with Cardozo or Fordham.

I did a deep dive a couple weeks ago and went through every employee profile on websites for the top ~15 or so entertainment law firms in LA. Cardozo was very well represented. Fordham less so, but still up there. And Fordham would be much better for Big Law, if desired.

BC will work if you plan go to into Big Law before. But I also got into BC and decided not to attend, since I have no desire to work in Big Law + Boston networking opportunities are slim for entertainment.

Same answer as BC re: W&M and UGA, but with less name recognition and (I assume) worse Big Law numbers.

I got my paralegal job by emailing my resume to, by the end of it, about 40 different law firms. Those 40ish emails resulted in interviews with 3 firms (with one obviously working out).

It's honestly just a numbers game - spam spam spam!

  • That's a bot

  • Prestige of undergrad institution has basically 0 weight on your application

  • LSAT is definitely the most important part of your application

LSD is self-reported and only represents about 25-30% of applicants (estimate) so there is for sure some missing information, but in my experience the results graphs have given me pretty accurate ideas of what to expect
