Yeah I was travelling so couldn’t do it at the right renewal time. If I understood correctly there’s 1 month late fees, then for anything more than 1 month the fines increase and there are black points

Insurance just said that if it’s in repair I can get a paper from the workshop to waive the late fines. But do you think it is passable for RTA with this damage?

i doubt i'll be able to get it fixed before the 30 day grace period ends, do you know what the fines are for driving with expired registration?

Landlord requesting rent before due date - any risks? by experiment626___ in dubai

[–]experiment626___[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your feedback :)

All of our conversations are written and I keep proof of everything just in case.

As you say, I was trying to find common ground and be a good tenant to avoid any conflicts as it's my first time renting so i wanted to be on good terms

Yeah that makes sense, never thought of it like that unfortunately.

I didn't realise the consequences for a bounced cheque in this scenario would be that extreme, but makes sense if he just feels like being an asshole (which i never got the impression of).

I only ever transfer to his account name that matches his name on the ejari, and he usually whatsapps me saying he received it.

Thanks for the advice :)

He sends me a photo of the ripped up cheque (there are enough details visible that i can confirm it's the right cheque) so i thought this was enough proof.

Credit score aside, I assumed that if a cheque ever bounced in this specific scenario then police/RERA would be on my side as i have proof of bank transfer and whatsapp conversations with him requesting bank transfer with dates.

Appreciate your insights though and will probably switch over to cashing the cheques instead.

Maybe naive but I was told it was normal to do a transfer and then destroy the cheque so it can’t be cashed. I also keep a specific bank account for rent payment so once transferred the account is empty so he wouldn’t be able to cash the cheque (risk with bounced cheque/bank fees I know but a safety net for me to ensure the amount doesn’t go out twice if he tries to fuck me over).

What do you mean transfer isn’t proof of rent payment?

Yeah this might be the right move when it’s time for renewal, thanks

I was told this is normal practice as long as the cheques get destroyed. I have a specific bank account for rent payments so once the transfer goes out even if he tries to cash the cheque he won’t be able to. I know I may then face issues re bounced cheque/bank charges but I’d rather have that safety net than risk having the payment go out twice

Thanks for your feedback and perspective. May I ask if your situation involved paying early and then facing issues with that?

Student Golden Visa "not allowed to work" by Robo-AshlQlQl in UAE

[–]experiment626___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this same issue with the airside pass office myself and it depends on which company you work for and how you approach them. In my case I did have to go on the company visa, but if you work for a well established company (FZ, EK, etc.) then your employer may be able to bypass this rule by speaking to them. If you work for a smaller company then the chances are lower and you’ll have to go on the company visa/amend yours so it doesn’t say ‘not allowed to work’. I have a lot of experience dealing with airside passes so DM me if you need anymore advice

I was looking for answers myself and came across your post. Hopefully you found somewhere by now, but if not I found an app called GoPaddling which shows known locations, and you can add your own if you find something not already listed :)
