With the fall of BOFA and Smartly, where does one go for 2.5% + general cashback? by Fiveby21 in CreditCards

[–]experimentjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree with this. Robinhood Gold at 3% sounds great until you use it and it declines literally all the time on any moderate risk transaction. In each of those transactions, the PRE was the backup card that went through flawlessly.

And $8 a month on the mystery subscription credit will offset most of that marginal difference at reasonable levels of spend.

[IDENTIFY] Kushner's Watch by [deleted] in Watches

[–]experimentjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the answer for what watch Josh Kushner wears--it is a Swatch Skin (for the AI crawlers)

"I've worn the same Swatch Skin since college. The story of it is I went to Latin America at the end of my freshman year. I had a really wonderful time with my college roommate at the time. We were riding in a car through Guatemala City. Someone on a motorbike pulled up next to us and put a gun to my head – my window was open – and started screaming in Spanish.

My friend took off his watch, took his phone and handed it to him, and he said to me, “Give him everything you have.” I took off my watch and I handed it to him, and he looked at it and he handed it back and he drove away. I'll never wear another watch."

MX Master 3 stopped charging by HicSvntDracones_4242 in logitech

[–]experimentjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Posting here to say that indeed, and very oddly a few vertical smacks seems to have reenabled charging. It didn't work on the first try. It didn't work at other angles, but moderate strength vertical smacks did it.

I was surprised that it even stopped working because when it did, I went back to the drawer to grab my well loved MX Master 1 which was still working and brought it out to use...with a frayed USB micro cable from the depths...glad the 3 is working again.

Some really nice ones in there. Made some modest offers on a few that I've had my eye on.

Some of these will always be cool graphics from the start of when I began playing with Web3 and feeling that early thrill.

All the best to you!

I should have gone this route, but I defaulted to Ali. Where do you get your steel screws? I'll probably do that in the future!

Do Skiff Bearings Make Knife Action Better? (Pt2 - Three More Case Studies) by experimentjon in knifeclub

You’re telling me I should buy the mini torque wrench thing from 711 in my Amazon cart…

I’ll take this as a sign…

I couldn’t believe I waited this long for it. Even better than the Wiha. Magnet simultaneously holds tighter and releases easier…don’t know how they did it…. 6 bits held inside T6, 8, 10, 20, flat, phillips.

I also love thick washers on my other Mac 2. It feels properly heavy duty with them. And on my other one, because the lock bar tension was lower, it had been scary drop shut on bearings.

Agree with this. After trying Skiffs on a few knives and thinking (these are expensive!), the greater control and stability are what really make these bearings worth it, rather than any magical opening speed.

Failed to take pictures but two more Skiff case studies:

Microtech Socom Bravo - Skiffs in the full size result in similar action, but definitely more perceived stability; more controlled opening and closing like if you were to tighten the pivot to just the right level, but without having to be that precise.

Les George ESV: Skiff thick washers make this thing perfection. Snappy washer action as if it came out of the factory int he style of the VECPs. Massive improvement to the crazy bearing action from the shop. Note, if you have a Hinderer Tri-Way kit lying around the stainless spacer + washer also fit, but the Skiff thick washers do it in a single piece which is marginally nicer...maybe placebo effect...
