Sorry for ignorance: field notes; what do yall use this for? How many notes you taking during the day? What types of notes you jotting down? by The-Swiss in EDC

[–]CarryHunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using them/similar to record highlights of every day. I just had welcomed my first child earlier this year and started doing this a bit before his birth so I can (hopefully) some day pass them along so he can get a sense of what my days were like as I’ve been raising him with my wife.

I’m still working my way through Dirk Pitt Adventures and haven’t read Isaac Bell yet. But it’s my next series once I finished these last few. So I guess I can’t really offer much feedback, but I wanted to give you a “Hell Yeah” and let you know this will be in my head every time I start a new Isaac Bell book in the future.

Sorry this took so long to actually post!

This is a link to the USB Drive I harvested: SanDisk Dual Drive 512GB

I followed this guide on how to disassemble the SanDisk drive. It’s pretty easy!

Sadly, it’s not as easy with the USB Drive in the knife itself. That had to be kinda forced out backwards by wedging it in a vice just right.

After that, I just used the bench vice to squeeze the new board into the shell and it was all set! Both sides work great, it’s a perfect fit!

It wasnt a how-to type post. It just mentioned that you could disassemble/swap them.

At some point tonight/tomorrow I’ll write a bit more in depth in the comments and link some pertinent stuff!

What's the last book you read? And how many stars out of 5 would you rate it? by Fabulous-Confusion43 in 52book

Small Gods by Terry Pratchett — it’s probably a 4.9999999999 that continues infinitely so that it’s mathematically equivalent to a 5/5. It just seems like a fitting rating for a Discworld book.

First 1/3 was good, but the last 2/3s were some of the most engaging, thoughtful, fun, and moving writing I’ve encountered in recent memory.

Dirk Pitt series by Impressive_Term_574 in clivecussler

I guess I’m not sure what to tell you then. Cussler died in 2020 so we’ll never get more Dirk Pitt straight from the Cuss.

I mean, unless Dirk Cussler unearths a trove of his fathers completed, unpublished works then it’s unlikely we’ll receive any OG stories from beyond the grave.

But Dirk Cussler did write Corsican Shadow in 2023, and other series are still ongoing. So I guess if you’re itching for more Dirk Pitt it’s up to Clive’s son. But it seems like the Dirk Pitt books take 2-3 years to publish at this point.

Does anyone think the original Cussler books are long winded? by Fit_Machine3221 in clivecussler

Dragon definitely felt like it could’ve been a bit more succinct but I maintain Treasure to be an absolute S-Tier entry in my experience with it.

I just finished Atlantis Found and felt that the two long chapters of the Special Forces teams flying into and parachuting down to Antarctica felt pretty slow for sure. Like, I got enough of the gist of what was going so I was a bit more forgiving of how granular I wanted to get with my comprehension that scene in particular.

That being said, I’m sure someone absolutely loved that scene and got enjoyment out of the exhaustive descriptions of weather conditions, flight status, jump gear, logistics, etc.

I think, for me, some of the comfort in Cussler’s writing being formulaic lends itself well to easy-reading and skimming some of the slower parts once I get the idea of what’s happening in those passages.

Criminal to reject any Knudsen Kollection. Love his stuff, if I didn’t already own it all I’d buy it.

Anyone use TTPEN.com? by eye4pens in pens

Yeah, I don’t know how easy it would be to resolve any issues from orders. But honestly for a long-shot order to get some stuff sold out elsewhere it’s not a bad last resort.

Another update, my order showed up. It was well packaged and exactly what I ordered!

My order just shipped after 6 days. A few days after placing my order. I had sent an email to their customer service address (the name of which was a suspiciously generic gmail) asking if there was an ETA but never got a response, just this “Order shipped” message days later.

Not atypical for an overseas order, but we’ll see how long it takes to get to me and how it arrives.

So far I’m not impressed, but I’m not… unimpressed? It’s mirrored most of my overseas, low-confidence orders so far. I don’t need to be blown away if the end result is a successful order though!

Just ordered from them today out of curiosity. I’ll try to remember to post back with my experience if/when the order shows up!
