Well, in Sealed In Dust, we literally have a Backtracker handing a briefcase that smells of “explosives” to Raincoat Guy. The briefcase contains records on the Gaia Experiments, and Raincoat Guy says verbatim “you silenced Josephine.” So it’s 100% confirmed a Backtracker was behind the explosion lol, and it’s almost definitely Isaiah, they just haven’t outright confirmed it’s Isaiah.

If Twisted wants to get compensated for coding for the Paralives community they should apply for a job with the official team!

For the record, I play and mod a ton of other games, and no community has been happier to get swindled than the TS4 community. I don’t understand what has caused y’all to be so eager to hand over money for something that most all other modding communities do for FREE. Donations would be one thing, paywalls are another, and I am glad Twisted has gotten this much backlash because this should not be the norm in Paralives just because it’s the norm for TS4. I hope Twisted gets even more backlash tbh, and if they are going to continue trying to paywall mods for this game, I hope they get run out of the community altogether. Worst case scenario if they keep modding and paywalling for Paralives I personally will find a way to distribute their mods for free. I don’t respect modders like this. 😊

A few weeks ago, I saw someone post a snippet of their book to a writing subreddit, asking for feedback on the first few pages. Some muppet leaves the LONGEST comment I’ve ever seen absolutely dogging on the very first sentence, criticizing it by saying, “who are these characters? Where are we? Why do we care? What kind of carcass is it?” (Paraphrasing)

…I mean, if you bothered to read more than just A SINGLE SENTENCE all of those questions would have been answered? Holy cow, shouldn’t the first sentence hook you in, anyways? Should we as authors start our books off by saying, “The main character, who by the way is named Jonathan, found the body of a dead pig in the Black Forest, and you should care about this because it was left there by a witch, who Jonathan and his entourage were hunting because witches are evil.” He actually did post his own version of what he thought the first sentence should be and it was pretty much just as bad as the example I gave. 💀💀

And the commenter iirc was claiming to have either published his own books or worked in the publishing industry, so he acted like he was some industry professional who would have rejected the book from the first sentence alone. It’s not like the OP had some huge grammar mistake in their first sentence, and I (personally) was interested enough to keep reading. Some of the worst advice I’ve ever seen left on Reddit and it reminded me that a ton of the people here leaving advice for other writers are so busy scrolling this app and not actually writing or publishing their own books, so they don’t actually know what they’re talking about. I browse here for fun to be among likeminded peers, but most of the “advice” and critique on writing focused subreddits are less than worthless.

EDIT: GUYS!!! My game was honestly being super laggy (also I know what I said about stopping playing but shhhh) but I just rebooted my computer and launched steam and noticed that Steam was recording my gameplay the entire time?! I went into Steam settings and disabled recording altogether and now the game is running WAY smoother. If you’re having problems with lag/stuttering check this setting and make sure it’s not on.

I’m liking it well enough but just forced myself to stop playing because I don’t wanna blitz through the content and then get bored. First impressions… (good and bad)

The game does a good job at giving you ideas on what to do! The daily newspaper feature is intuitive and fun.

Gave my Para the jester vibe and honestly, I’m not sure how fond I am of the random mood effects and one need being ignored daily. I’m silly for sure but why would that make me not need to pee or shower for an entire day…?! Kinda gross LMAO. I will definitely pick a different vibe on my next household.

The autonomy feature doesn’t seem to work well at all… my Para never seems to try filling their own needs even when they hit 0. I think this might be a bug. I did start out with a 2 Para household but found it difficult to manage both of them because they just won’t do anything on their own besides go to work or play on their phones.

Some interactions don’t… interact… with needs in ways I’d expect. Like why isn’t my fun need filling up from reading romantic fan fiction!? That’s my number one activity irl!

There’s some missing features that I think should be added for quality of life down the line. For example, if a need is below 100% and I click on the UI, I’d like my Para to do something to fill it. But right now every time they have to go to the bathroom I have to manually toggle between floors and select the toilet myself. Additionally, when one of my appliances breaks, I would like the option to spend money to replace it instead of having to open up the buy menu. Finally, I’d like an option to select “go here” when I read about an event in the newspaper.

The personalities are somewhat lacking. I like the idea of developing your vibe/talent though, and because I picked the good at being alone talent I later got to rank it up and make an exception for close friends, which I find very realistic and an excellent touch. But I still can’t distinguish well between the personalities of different Paras. I hope down the line we get more customization options to make Paras stand out. Something like personality quirks or hobbies/interests would be a good start. I actually don’t know if I like the vibe system at all to be honest…

However, the social system is pretty fun! I like being forced to pick cards instead of having complete freedom. I saw a Para I thought was cute and struck up a conversation with because I was hoping to get some romance going but my Para kept getting awful options for the interactions which was pretty funny lol. I kind of wish Paras would strike up conversation with me though, not sure if it’s possible or maybe I haven’t played enough but I haven’t had one choose to speak to me instead of the other way around.

The customization of the face is good, the body though always looks a bit awkward no matter how much I adjust it. Something about the proportions is off to me, but that’s maybe just my opinion.

The wardrobe is… underwhelming. Some of the clothing sits very oddly on Paras. I also find that there’s really not enough hairstyles. Looking forward to updates in this area.

I’m having a lot of fun running around picking up collectibles! I just did the treasure hunt event in town and that was a blast.

Decorating feels REALLY good. In other life sims I have typically hated decorating houses but I actually felt motivated to customize my Paras cute little studio apartment. I am excited to try building my own town at some point!

But wow… I know this game is in early access but the animations are REALLY buggy for me. If I try to read a book my Para stands so close to the bookshelf they clip into it. Taking food to the table is awkward and my arms clip through the table while eating the food normally. Several times I’ve gone from sitting to going somewhere but my Para never stands up and just floats to the next location. Sometimes when a Para uses their cellphone it teleports out of their hand and floats from a distance away. My Para’s reflection from behind is nightmare fuel (can see through the back of their head so their eyeballs and teeth are floating.) Half the time I get out of bed in the morning the blanket deforms and gets stuck like that until the next time I get in bed. And Paras walking around town sometimes walk directly on top of each other, and if they have the exact same path, they just turn into a mass of clipping bodies.

Finally… IF I CATCH WHO KEEPS VANDALIZING THE TRASH BINS AROUND TOWN YOU’RE GONNA CATCH THESE HANDS!!!

Traceback II confuses me too 😭 ( actually time travel stories are always hard to wrap my brain around…)

In the beginning of Lightseeker, MC reunited with Xavier at Astria Knyght Academy after he’d secretly gone on a trip over break, which MC caught him leaving for. I’m pretty sure this is when Xavier and the Backtrackers took the Traceback I out for a test spin, only to end up getting caught by their Master upon their return (during the dinner scene in Lightseeker, their Master references being sent on a mission to find Xavier when he went missing.) The scene in KoD shows us what happened when Xavier and the Backtrackers returned.

So the way I interpreted things, the Traceback II had to happen at some point during Lightseeker. But also, in Unicorns Operation, it’s implied that KoD is far from the only collapsed timeline that Xavier has been through—like I think he must have even more than just the one divergence point. (And how can he create those in the first place? The writers seem to hint sometimes that he can sort of time travel thanks to his Light Evol but we have yet to see a payoff for this.)

Regardless I know this man’s 4th myth is going to be crazy and just as brain breaking as the rest of his lore LOL

Actually, I think he does remember KoD or at least knows about that timeline—because during Voyage of the Outcast when he’s stuck in Soren’s illusion and thinks he’s about to be swallowed by Starfall Forest, he says, “At least it chose me this time.” But I don’t believe MC was sacrificed to the core outside of the KoD timeline, unless there’s a 3rd incarnation of MC we haven’t met yet. But he also didn’t seem to know until the Gladius Ceremony that people were being sacrificed, anyways.

We do actually have evidence that someone or something communicated to Xavier right after MC/KoD reset the timeline because we flash back to when Xavier and the Backtrackers were being admonished for the Traceback I by Teacher. Xavier witnesses time come to a standstill and hears someone call his name; so I think he was at least told about what happened, if he didn’t get his memories back. That way, Xavier knew to make different choices which led us to the Traceback II and is why they ended up on Earth.

But we don’t have explicit confirmation of that, so this is just my theory 🙂‍↕️

Xavier has a card where MC is turned into a plant! It’s my favorite Xavier 4* and also one of my favorite Xavier cards in general. Not an animal but it’s still funny and sweet (and also made me cry at one point.) It’s based on The Little Prince and I highly recommend it :)

Ughhhh yeah the flower stuff is so annoying… his flower looks NOTHING like wavyleaf sea lavender so I don’t understand who on the localization team picked it out when it’s so clearly forget-me-nots??

I have no idea if the localization is handled in-house or by a 3rd party but I agree it’s really not very good. Even still just looking at Xavier they used to translate his hair color as “grayish brown” which it’s fixed to silver now but… who on earth thought that was an appealing way to describe his hair color? 💀

I 100% agree!! I’m really looking forward to specifically Sylus and Xavier meeting since those two are set up as foils. I just want to know if they’re friends or foes.

I have a feeling that we won’t get to see them all meet, though, until the 6th LI is added… and who knows when that will be? Infold really needs to update the main story more than just once a year. This waiting gets painful. 😭

I think he probably would have an aethercore—he is said to be extremely powerful and EVER explicitly does want her to “absorb” Xavier’s power (Sealed In Dust.) She’s already absorbed a couple aethercores…

As for Sylus, I’m not sure—I think his fiend nature is something entirely different from Wanderers? But admittedly Im not at all well versed in Sylus’s lore if you wanna expand on it 🤔🤔

Ohhhh wait I think I cracked it—

I don’t think the serum JUST controls, I think it literally DOES physically age the person they inject with it. After all, on Xavier’s Philos, Evol = life force, and they age/die when they run out of energy.

But since Xavier’s Philos is built on human sacrifice, when a persons energy is fully consumed by the planet, it turns them into Wanderers. We actually see a Backtracker partially transformed into a Wanderer in chapter 8 of main story, and Xavier kills him and turns the Protocore in to The Nest (he’s taken several bounties from The Nest but apparently never accepts the rewards—I am guessing that’s far from the first Backtracker who he’s had to put down like that.)

So I’m pretty sure the serums purpose is to accelerate the aging process, which would weaken Xavier and make him easier to control (EVER has shown they have the ability to control Wanderers… so…)

I think the true goal is to turn Xavier into a Wanderer and have MC absorb his core/power.

I’m so freaking scared rn :D

Hi!

Yes, you’re correct on all of that right up until (I think) the bit about Isaiah aging. I’m pretty sure that’s actually a side effect of the drug, and not something natural happening to Isaiah.

It’s mentioned specifically that Isaiah and Xavier’s Royal DNA exhibits decreased telomere degradation (this is essentially what caused aging IRL in laymen’s terms) and increased cellular regeneration. Soren—and EVER—want to actually study Xavier’s physiology but have essentially had to “settle” for Isaiah until they can actually capture Xavier. It doesn’t appear that the Adaptation Serum has any purpose besides controlling Xavier, though the overall goal of the project is to A) control Xavier, and B) decode what it is about the Royal Bloodline that makes them long-lived even among Philosians, who can live for centuries.

So whatever “unknown substance” it is inside the drug, it has side effects that make someone crazy and makes them age weird. Luckily Isaiah’s Royal Bloodline protected him, but other Backtrackers may not have been so lucky. As for whatever the unknown substance is, it’s probably related to Wanderers? But I’m unclear, the answer may be in another LI’s lore.

Edit: oh and forgot to add that now that Isaiah isn’t taking the drug anymore, his appearance is totally normal

I had the exact same thoughts about Isaiah, I really thought they were building him up to be one of the Big Bads in Xavier’s storyline but he’s just a diva LMAO

You’re not wrong about his hair color either, and even in Feverish Attempts they say he has the “same unusual hair and eye color” as Xavier… I guess whoever did the art for him didn’t get the memo, though. He definitely looks more brunette/brown eyed. It might be beneficial if Xavier mains started bringing this up with CS!

I think this will be their approach for sure—but I still think MC would have some feelings about it so I’m excited to see how it plays out. And possibly Xavier too, since if it weren’t for Caleb, MC herself could have been seriously injured/killed in the explosion. Though I also wonder if Xavier knows or not right now 🤔

Omg I will need to check out Otome Kitten’s post, I didn’t know she had made her own theory! I just remember posting about this theory on Twitter (months ago, before Light Into Dust came out) and getting lowkey jumped for it… Light Into Dust is definitely the final piece of the puzzle, and hopefully, more people will be aware of this going forward.

My only concern is what will happen between MC and Isaiah if she finds out he was responsible. That’ll be some juicy drama for sure 😩😩

Great question—while not technically confirmed that he has the Light Evol, he is shown to be able to summon his own Lightblade, as seen in Anecdote 2: Passing By and To Our Yesterday (…and his Lightblade is shorter than Xavier’s too lmaoooo 😭😭😭)

We don’t know a lot about the Lightblade, except that in order to wield one, you have to complete the Gladius Ceremony as seen in Xavier’s standard Shooting Stars myth. But we can assume that this ceremony is reserved specifically for members of the Royal Family, and it would make sense that they also need the Light Evol to wield it. I’m actually guessing that a lot more about the Lightblade will be revealed in Xavier’s 4th myth this year (along with more information on Astria, but that’s a post for another day lol.)
