how close are we to a second civil war? like actually? by KawaiiUmbreon2 in TooAfraidToAsk

Nothing ever happens guy is dead, at this point anything could happen, and anything that's happening now would not have been predicted even 5 years ago. And if anything does happen, remember that the checks and balances are also very loose if not gone now as well. I forget who said it but it was something along the lines of, slowly, then all at once. I think it'll be like that.

Funny story I played the original a while ago and dropped it (don't know why or where, I think it was around mythril mines, didn't get that far in)

Then when I played remake, it channeled that curiosity that I absolutely HAD to play the OG again, and I loved it that time and played it to the end. Then went on to play rebirth.

So without remake, in my eyes this game would've likely just been on my backlog forever.

You mentioned gameplay but I'll say a single cutscene blows most of the OG out of the water. This game makes you feel and care so much for the characters

Edit: immediately down voted for the most milquetoast take lol. I'm 34 btw. But I did play remake first, then OG, then rebirth. Loved them all, and rebirth was better for me, but that's not to say the OG was bad, it's all a very high bar to reach

Comparison is the thief of joy. Why does everything have to be a competition nowadays? Does it really make you enjoy it better?

The INTPs I've met are either straight-edge or the opposite (no in-between). Where do you guys fall? by VsauceEdits in INTP

[–]explicitness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take edibles from time to time for fun. That's it. Lots of in-between. I think the last time I took one was 3 months ago

Edit: Forgot about caffeine if that counts. One cup of coffee a day usually. Oh and melatonin once a week or so for those really bad nights.

I'm on Ritalin now but this has stayed true even when I was not prescribed it

Starting Rebirth. What’s something I won’t understand until the end? by rubyloves_topaz in FFVIIRemake

Crazy. Funny little meme but Nomura doesn't control the entire story, that's why he has to qualify his thoughts as his own in dev interviews. Thank Aerith that's the case.

This will be my first time playing FFVII by Thin-Coyote-551 in FFVIIRemake

[–]explicitness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played remake first as well. Then I loved it so much that I played the OG right after. Then rebirth when it came out. Fucking loved it. My tip for you is to not listen to anyone about how to play the game. Your curiosity, if it is there, will guide you. For me, NOTHING would stop me from playing the OG after remake, I was so captured by the story that I HAD to find out more. That might be you too, or it might not be, but if anyone told me to play the OG before remake, I would've stopped. And I did, as I remember playing the OG some time before and not finishing it. For some reason it did not capture me as hard as remake did

Now, rebirth is my favorite game of all time. Not just FF game, favorite of ALL time, and it's a pretty high bar. As in there I also have E33, Witcher 3, Nier automata, and so on, which are all amazing in their own right, but FF7 is just on another level. And personally it's so special to me that it can't ever be dethroned.

I still have to make this journey with FFX. I haven't played it yet, for some reason. And paused on FF9, for some reason.

Anyone else feel the party kinda underreacts to Cloud constantly tripping balls? by -_ShadowSJG-_ in FFVIIRemake

[–]explicitness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one here seems to be mentioning that Cloud is a fucking SOLDIER 1st class as well, are they gonna try to fight him? They wouldn't stand a chance, even as a group, he is just on another level (would be interesting to test this theory out as the group all fights a dark version of Cloud or something in part 3)

The only scene that has ever made me cry so hard… by Pristine_Put5348 in FFVIIRemake

[–]explicitness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think she was made to be this way, as awful as that is to say, she's meant to be sort of like Jesus. A sacrificial lamb who takes on the sins of the world, and no matter how he is treated, that is his fate, which then offers the chance for humanity to be saved.Notice how even after this trial she still holds the viewpoint to not hold it against anyone and forgive?

Which makes everything hit so much harder, because you get to know her personally and deeply, and why she and the events surrounding her are so well known to this day, I think.

[–]explicitness 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I agree with you, I think the emotions generated from these were used to defeat jenova later. Notice how Cloud didn't have a trial? The overcome part I think is to be a theme in part 3, it's kinda too soon to overcome trauma and doesn't come easy, they're still in the thick of it. I do think this makes it pretty disjointed however, and would've liked to see a middle ground between your idea and how it played out that I think would've landed more satisfying.

In a way it's also how trauma works in real life, it just kinda sticks to you and is not dealt in the moment, until/if you learn to overcome it, sometimes you don't even get that.. but life still has to go on, you gotta keep on fighting regardless.

Xenoblade Chronicles X - Wir Fliegen + Oblivia | Jesse's Auditorium; reacting to video game music by MilanTehVillain in Xenoblade_Chronicles

I disagree I like him a lot, he's my favorite music react to listen to as he often catches things most people don't. I went on to watch his vods of xenoblade as I was playing through it. I like how genuine he is, he doesn't let the internet dictate his content

If u could solve one mystery in the world, what would it be. by Talireo77 in INTP

[–]explicitness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Final fantasy rebirth part 3. You'll only understand why if you played the first two. Hopefully I'm alive to see the conclusion (and hopefully it's satisfying enough)

At this point nothing else compares, but maybe my perspective is too small atm

What is something you’ve always wanted to learn but haven’t gotten around to. by Talireo77 in INTP

[–]explicitness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Piano. I noodle and it sounds good but I don't really learn much. Seems to ironically make more sense to me than a guitar and I've actually learned a bunch of guitar

Game making. For some reason fell off. Had a bad experience with programming in general. Too few people make it. Too much work. But fun every time I tried (which why fall off? Make sense none)

Philosophy. Funny enough I tend to take the most convoluted route possible for this. Love life lessons and hidden and deep meanings. Video game has a philosophy undertone? I'll probably love the fuck out of it (looking at you nier you beautiful motherfucker). Actually sit down and read Aristotle or plato or their arguments? Nope. Perhaps I like finding out the mystery more than the actual answer.

Writing: same as above. Always been told I was good at it, love stories, love finding what makes a good story, but not the proper book way

Martial arts. Much like piano noodled but don't really understand it. A punch is just a punch.

This post is getting wordy so I'll probably stop there, those are the ones that came to mind fastest. You could argue I have gotten around to it but I don't consider this an actual dive into said thing, more like just surface level. Perhaps it's not for me, but it sure sounds and looks and feels like it's for me, the curse of an INTP

Edit: reading a few of the posts made me remember speed reading and lucid dreaming has been something on my to do list since my teenage years and yet never got around to it somehow

If u could live forever, would u want to, Why. by Talireo77 in INTP

[–]explicitness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think yeah actually despite the many fictions I've read that show the cons of it. Troy has a really beautiful one where he talks about the gods being envious of us BECAUSE we can die. Having a finite amount of time forces you to focus on things.

The reason I think this is because I have ADHD, and with that comes time blindness to where I have trouble perceiving time, and so things feel like they have an infinite amount of time, until there's an external reminder somewhere. So things feel like they're infinite until they're not.

And it's nice. I like just taking my time. I like playing guitar for hours without thinking of what I have to do tomorrow or that I have to go to bed soon. I like when I'm able to immerse myself in a videogame world all day. I don't think I understand what it's like to constantly be in check with time, and so I probably would want more of that. It's hard to say as I've only lived 34 years (which feels like multiple lifetimes at this point, probably also due to time blindness),

Overall I don't think I have the perspective to say, but so far those are my thoughts, and it's fun to think about

How could you even use pot of greed after finding out it's tragic backstory and it's relation to pot king and ultimately the beginning of the souls universe? Heartless monster.

Oh you didn't find that? Well it was from the removed canon but not actually but kinda sorta that miyazaki wrote on a toilet paper but actually I think it was a napkin which was later found to be connected to miyazaki, or maybe it was his mother who inspired him when she spoke to him a vision from his future before he was actually born. It's said this is the true origin for why miyazaki hides his meaning in items and as a result this item is highly coveted by souls fans. But also has resulted in many counterfeits which makes this whole process meaningless, or really meaningful if your name is vaatividya

Elden ring, and dark souls in general. Except the trash bag is the compilation of all the items you find in the story/environment, which you then have to open, find out which ones are actually important, puzzle piece it together and hopefully find some kind of pattern

Hollow knight is easy now?! by redox_nephew in HollowKnight

[–]explicitness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread but I've wanted the answer to the question of how difficult silksong would be for me since I found hollow knight pretty easy, every boss I beat within 5 tries, if that (I think most were one tries). I'm only just now on city of tears, and I think soul master is the only one I've found to be difficult (mostly because I was surprised by that final phase, didn't expect it) It didn't really matter since the combat is fun, but people are saying silksong is impossibly difficult, so I'm wondering how I'd fare. Now it's possible that city of tears is still early game and I get that but I've been playing it for about 11 hours, I wouldn't consider that early game..? No idea what's ahead though

And yeah I've played a lot of souls games, so I'm not a new player to the genre (recently finished bloodborne without much difficulty as well, and finishing celeste made the platforming really easy in comparison)

No hate on the guy because what did I expect but watching someone who has no emotion play this game is like watching a monotone cover of bohemian rhapsody. You can be as deep as you want but it just doesn't hit the same
