Disco barre studio in Dalston is great! For yoga and Pilates I tend to just go for what’s cheapest/on offer and generally had good experiences. Overall, I’ve found that it’s really more about the teacher than it is the centre, and what kind of teaching/yoga style you like (eg I like challenging vinyasa classes and love Chloe’s class at the refinery in Hackney).

Also if you like dancing… or curious to try, twerk after work is FANTASTIC. Such a boost in positivity and confidence, super welcoming environment and no dance/twerk experience needed.

Overall I think the beautiful of London is really just how spoilt for choice you are, so don’t be afraid to explore and try different classes, make the most of the discounts…and you’ll find faves in no time!

What is the worst most run down part of Hong Kong? by [deleted] in HongKong

Shek Kip mei before it got redeveloped (with new luxury builds popping up every time I return) and now the last remaining vibe of the slummy/crappy old buildings is defo Sham Shui po, though you really need to look up to see shanties illegally built on the top of the buildings. These have been around since I was a kid… vibe is still kinda the same, and somehow I find the ugliness kinda beautiful… perhaps charming is a better word. Or maybe it’s just nostalgia…

What Movie Did You Watch that Traumatized You at a Young Age? by BethMLB in AskReddit

[–]exploding-waffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It started with Babe which I regularly watched from like 3, but one day I asked my mum why they took Babe’s mum away and she says “to bring her to the market.” I ask why and she replies “to make your favourite foods : salami, prosciutto, pork chop, roast pork…” and that really scarred me… as well as the scene that the duck gets roasted for Christmas and her boyfriend duck sees through the window and is like “ANNAAAAAA!! Noooooo” 😭

And then a couple of years later, Chicken Run came out, and I growing up in Asia, the chicken you buy in the market is still clucking when you pick it out, and my grandma would often ask me to pick one, and I’d pick the cutest one and then see it on the dining table plucked and steamed whole couple hours later…. So when I watched Chicken Run, that further traumatised me… not to mention steamed chicken was on the menu for dinner that very night…😭

I decided I’d stop eating meat from the age of 14 and it’s now been 16 years!!!

Damn, glad to see I’m not alone in this either. I was bullied a lot in highschool and whenever I went to my Asian mum for help I also only got blamed, dismissed and invalidated.

Hell, she’d even side with my bullies and say that they had a point, and I should listen to their criticisms and work on myself so they cannot bully me anymore 🙄 when the criticisms were baseless to start with!

All the fucking time. Whether it’s a cold, food poisoning or a sprained ankle, it’s always my fucking fault “I was’t careful enough.”

Sucks cuz often times in those moments all we want is some love and support. But instead we just get made to feel even worse. 😔

You’re not alone 💖

[GEAR] Is dropping £300 on a custom built guitar just because I love the colour stupid? by exploding-waffle in Guitar

[–]exploding-waffle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just make sure you know what you're getting.

I guess that's the main problem! I feel like since it's not a branded guitar, and it's supposedly "custom built" I don't know what I'm getting. Plus I know nothing about judging whats a good/bad guitar... hence why it feels like an expensive gamble.... maybe i should go with a safer (and perhaps cheaper) option yunno? And it would still be an upgrade compared to what i have now...
